A control method for a memory is provided. In a test mode, a tendency check operation is performed for a cell array to define the tendency of the cell array. In a write mode: receiving external data; determining the tendency of the external data; comparing the tendency of the external data and the tendency of the cell array; inverting the external data and writing the inverted external data into the cell array in response to the tendency of the external data being different from the tendency of the cell array; and writing the external data into the cell array in response to the tendency of the external data being the same as the tendency of the cell array.

Error handling for resilient software

Error handling for resilient software includes: receiving data indicating a region of resilient memory; detecting an error associated with a region of memory; and preventing raising an exception for the error in response to the region of memory falling within the region of resilient memory by preventing the region of memory as being identified as including the error.

MEMORY SYSTEM WITH ERROR DETECTION

A memory controller generates error codes associates with write data and a write address and provides the error codes over a dedicated error detection code link to a memory device during a write operation. The memory device performs error detection, and in some cases correction, on the received write data and write address based on the error codes. If no uncorrectable errors are detected, the memory device furthermore stores the error codes in association with the write data. On a read operation, the memory device outputs the error codes over the error detection code link to the memory controller together with the read data. The memory controller performs error detection, and in some cases correction, on the received read data based on the error codes.

Memory controllers, devices and associated methods are disclosed. In one embodiment, a memory controller includes write circuitry to transmit write data to a memory device, the write circuitry includes a write error detection correction (EDC) encoder to generate first error information associated with the write data. Data bus inversion (DBI) circuitry conditionally inverts data bits associated with each of the write data words based on threshold criteria. Read circuitry receives read data from the memory device. The read circuitry includes a read EDC encoder to generate second error information associated with the received read data. Logic evaluates the first and second error information and conditionally reverse-inverts at least a portion of the read data based on the decoding.

A system for interfacing with a co-processor or input/output device is disclosed. According to one embodiment, the system includes a computer processing unit, a memory module, a memory bus that connects the computer processing unit and the memory module and a co-processing unit or input/output device, wherein the memory bus also connects the co-processing unit or input/output device to the computer processing unit.

A memory device is provided. The memory device includes a memory bank configured to store data in one or more memory cells. The memory device further includes an address fault detection system designed to detect a mismatch between the address originally used to store the data and the address subsequently used to read the data. The address fault detection system generates an address parity bit from the received address and either stores that address parity bit with the user data or uses the address parity bit to invert the internal ECC bits generated from the user data. The address fault detection system can determine from the resulting syndrome from the ECC bits whether or not an address fault has occurred and raise an address fault indication flag if the address fault is detected.

An example method can include receiving, from a controller of a memory device, a first set of bits including data and a second set of at least one bit indicating whether the first set of bits comprises one or more erroneous or corrupted bits. The method can further include generating, at an encoder of the memory device, parity data associated with the first set of bits. The method can further include generating, at logic of the memory device, modified parity data with the parity data component and the second set of at least one bit. The method can further include writing the first set of bits and the modified parity data in an array of the memory device.
