BACKUP SYSTEM AND METHOD
A backup-source storage system extracts, as a pattern, forwarding target data to a backup-destination storage system among data written to a storage apparatus through a volume. The backup-source storage system determines whether the extracted pattern matches with a registered pattern in the backup-source storage system. When a result of the determination is false, the backup-source storage system registers the extracted pattern and forwards the forwarding target data to the backup-destination storage system. When the result of the determination is true, the backup-source storage system does not forward the forwarding target data.
OPTIMIZING BLOCK ALLOCATION IN A DATA STORAGE SYSTEM
One or more performance parameters associated with data stored at a storage device of a plurality of storage devices are received by a storage controller. A first number of blocks of the storage device to a high resiliency portion and a second number of blocks of the storage device to a low resiliency portion of the storage device are allocated based on the one or more performance parameters.
Remote data replication method and system
A remote data replication method and a storage system, where a production array sends a data replication request to a disaster recovery array. The data replication request includes an identifier of a source object and a data block corresponding to the source object. The data block is stored in physical space of a hard disk of the production array. The disaster recovery array receives the data replication request. The disaster recovery array creates a target object when the disaster recovery array does not include an object having a same identifier as the source object. An identifier of the target object is the same as the identifier of the source object, the disaster recovery array writes the data block into the physical space.
Data storage management system for protecting cloud-based data including on-demand protection, recovery, and migration of databases-as-a-service and/or serverless database management systems
A streamlined approach enables customers to retain management control over their data in a database-as-a-service (“DBaaS”) setting, by providing managed backup copies outside cloud service providers' sphere of control. An illustrative data storage management system provides control over performing backup operations to generate managed backup copies, storing managed backup copies, recovering managed backup copies in whole or in part, migrating managed backup copies, and migrating DBaaS instances. Management control also extends to choices of where to store the managed backup copies, whether on the same cloud computing platform as the source DBaaS, on a different cloud computing platform, and/or in a non-cloud data center.
Systems and methods for managing replication of data to a remote storage device
The disclosed computer-implemented method for managing replication of data to a remote storage device may include (1) maintaining a first bitmap and a second bitmap storing data acknowledging persistence of target data, respectively, at source and target gateways, where the target gateway serves the remote storage device, (2) sending replication data from a computing device to the source gateway, (3) setting a bit in the first bitmap, where the set bit corresponds to the replication data sent to the source gateway, (4) receiving a first acknowledgement indicating the source gateway received the replication data, (5) copying, in response to the first acknowledgement, the bit to the second bitmap, (6) clearing, in response to the first acknowledgement, the bit in the first bitmap, and (7) receiving a second acknowledgement indicating the target gateway received the replication data. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.
Method, device, and program product for reducing delay in I/O processing due to mirroring of cache data
Techniques perform storage management. Such techniques involve: in response to receiving, at a first processor of a storage system, a write request from a host for writing user data, caching the user data in a first cache of the first processor, and generating cache metadata in the first cache, the cache metadata including information associated with writing the user data; sending the user data and the cache metadata to a second cache of a second processor, for the second processor to perform, in the second cache, data processing related to cache mirroring by the second processor; and sending, to the host, an indication of completion of the write request, without waiting for the second processor to complete the data processing. Such techniques can improve system performance such as reducing latency, and shortening length of the I/O handling path of write request.

Data Replication Method, Apparatus, and System
A data replication method includes obtaining differential data information corresponding to differential data, where the differential data information includes a storage address of the differential data, and a determining value of the differential data. The data replication method comprises replicating the differential data from the primary volume to the secondary volume according to the storage address of the differential data that is located in the primary volume when the determining value is not less than a preset threshold. The data replication method comprises taking a snapshot for the primary volume when the determining value is less than the preset threshold and replicating the differential data to the secondary volume.

Background migration of virtual storage
Described is a technology by which a virtual hard disk is migrated from a source storage location to a target storage location without needing any shared physical storage, in which a machine may continue to use the virtual hard disk during migration. This facilitates use the virtual hard disk in conjunction with live-migrating a virtual machine. Virtual hard disk migration may occur fully before or after the virtual machine is migrated to the target host, or partially before and partially after virtual machine migration. Background copying, sending of write-through data, and/or servicing read requests may be used in the migration. Also described is throttling data writes and/or data communication to manage the migration of the virtual hard disk.
