Embodiments of the present disclosure are configured to allow a general user to select a preset setting as much as possible even when some of print setting items are lock-set by an administrator user. Accordingly, even when the print setting item is lock-set, the general user may select a preset setting as long as there is no conflict.

A printing system includes a printer and an information processing device that includes a processor and a memory storing processor-executable instructions, the instructions being configured to, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to, when there is not information stored in a queue area of the memory, determine to instruct the printer to start a pre-printing operation based on preparation instruction information, when there is information stored in the queue area, determine not to instruct the printer to start the pre-printing operation, in response to determining to instruct the printer to start the pre-printing operation, store the preparation instruction information into the queue area, in response to determining to instruct the printer to start the pre-printing operation and storing the preparation instruction information into the queue area, generate print data based on specified contents data, and store print instruction information into the queue area.

A method and system for generating drawing orders are provided. The method involves receiving print data including data representing a plurality of drawing objects including at least a first drawing object and a second drawing object. The first drawing object and the second drawing object are each of one of predetermined object types and meet a predetermined condition. The method further involves (i) rendering the first drawing object to a first plurality of scanlines, (ii) rendering the second drawing object to a second plurality of scanlines, and (iii) generating, at the same time, a drawing order list for the first and second drawing objects based on the first and second plurality of scanlines.

At least one embodiment of a post-processing apparatus performs post-processing on a product printed by a printing apparatus, and transmits a command for a temporary stop of print processing for a first job and information indicating a period of time during which the temporary stop continues to the printing apparatus. At least one embodiment of the printing apparatus receives the command for the temporary stop of the print processing for the first job and the information indicating the period of time during which the temporary stop continues from the post-processing apparatus, stops the print processing for the first job according to the command for the temporary stop, and controls print processing for a second job based on the period of time during which the temporary stop continues.

A printer configured to perform printing on a medium while being manually moved to the medium includes a print job acquisition section configured to obtain a print job, a movement detection section configured to detect a movement direction of the printer relative to the medium, and a first control section configured to make a print head while the printer is moved in a first direction in an odd-numbered pass, and make the print head perform printing while the printer is moved in an opposite direction to the first direction in an even-numbered pass. When the printer is moved in the opposite direction to the movement direction in the pass in which the printing is in progress other than the last pass, the first control section stops the printing by the print head in the pass in which the printing is in progress and the subsequent passes.

According to aspects of the present disclosure, a CPU of a PC is configured to obtain a print settings used for printing by a printer. The print settings includes an item for a sheet size including a sheet length and an item for a print quality. A parameter settable to the print quality includes a parameter (e.g., a normal or high speed) corresponding to a high conveyance speed of a sheet and a parameter (e.g., a high or the highest image quality) corresponding to a low conveyance speed. When the sheet length of the obtained print size is longer than a particular length, a parameter to be set to the print quality is limited to the high image quality or the highest image quality, and otherwise, the parameter is not limited.

A plurality of registration data includes control parameter data related to control of an image forming apparatus capable of executing a printing process. A processor, according to input designation information, selects target registration data from the plurality of registration data. Moreover, the processor derives estimated performance according to derivation rules. Furthermore, the processor outputs information about the estimated performance. The estimated performance is performance related to the printing process in a case where it is presumed that the printing process is executed according target parameters. The target parameters are the control parameters of the target registration data.
