Printing using color changeable material
Systems and methods for printing data on a substrate including a color-changeable material are provided. One system includes a processing circuit and a device including an energy source. At least a portion of a printed publication is printed on the substrate using a commercial printing press based on fixed data. The device including the energy source is configured to add variable data to the substrate. The processing circuit is configured to receive the variable data and to control the energy source to change a color of the color-changeable material based on the variable data to provide at least a portion of the printed publication. The processing circuit is configured to control the energy source to change the color of the color-changeable material in-line with a flow of the substrate through one of a printing line, a finishing line, or a packaging line of the commercial printing press.

Variable digital optical images may be fabricated using generic optical matrices. A generic optical matrix may have a substrate and a plurality of pixels corresponding to color and sub-pixels corresponding to non-color effects. The pixels may include first pixels corresponding to a first color and second pixels corresponding to a second color. The sub-pixels may include first sub-pixels corresponding to a first non-color effect and second sub-pixels corresponding to a second non-color effect. Individual ones of the pixels and sub-pixels of the generic optical matrix may be obliterated according to a negative while remaining pixels and/or sub-pixels may be preserved. The remaining pixels and sub-pixels may form an optical image corresponding to a base image. The optical image may be colored based on the remaining pixels. The optical image may exhibit non-color effects corresponding to the remaining sub-pixels. The optical image may comprise a hologram or a stereo image.

An information processing apparatus includes: a storage unit that stores determination information in which for each of a plurality of types of modalities that each generate medical information data including medical image data and type data indicating the type of the modality, method information indicating a color conversion method for the medical image data is associated with type data indicating the type of modality; a data receiver that receives data; a data acquisition unit that, when the received data is medical information data, acquires the type data from the received data; a method determiner that determines, based on the acquired type data and the determination information stored in the storage unit, the color conversion method for the medical image data included in the received data; and a color converter that performs color conversion on the medical image data according to the determined color conversion method to generate print image data.
