The adapter includes a first coupling interface configured to couple with the memory card slot on a first one of the two processing devices and further includes a second coupling interface configured to couple with a second processing device. The second coupling interface is of a different form factor than the first coupling interface.

A powered and secure device is provided. The device includes a terminal, an adapter, a self-latching mechanism and a secure housing. The terminal is adapted to be inserted into a host terminal device port. The self-latching mechanism adapted to secure or lock the device within the device port when the device is inserted into the device port. The secure housing adapted to be locked, unlocked, assembled, and disassembled. Access to the adapter is available when the secure housing is disassembled. A method of remote control is provided. A user interface of a controlling end inputs switching control signal. A first port of the controlling end transfers the control signal to a USB connector of an image capture unit. The method includes steps of: detecting whether the memory card supports a Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) interface; when the memory card does not support the PCIe interface, controlling the processing unit to access the memory card through a data transmission path and performing data format conversion between a transmission interface and the PCIe interface using a memory card access unit disposed on the data transmission path; and when the memory card supports the PCIe interface, controlling the processing unit to access the memory card through a PCIe data transmission path that allows the processing unit and the memory card to transmit data through the PCIe interface.
