Optical connection system, optical connector, and optical adapter for use with optical cable assembly and receptacle
An optical connection system for use with a receptacle and an optical cable assembly includes an adapter and connector. The adapter has an adapter latch element, and the connector has a connector latch element. A delatch actuator with a delatch arm is disposed on the connector housing for movement from a locking position to an unlocking position. One of the adapter latch element and connector latch element is a bendable latch hook and the other is a locking channel. When the connector housing is mated with the adapter, the delatch arm allows the bendable latch hook to latch with the locking channel in the locking position and unlatches the bendable latch hook from the locking channel as it moves to the unlocking position. An actuator lock movably supports a blocking member on the connector for selectively blocking the delatch actuator from moving to the unlocking position.
Fiber optic connector
A multi-fiber push on (MPO) optical connector includes a housing supporting a ferrule body. The ferrule body forms an optical connection with a second MPO optical connector. The ferrule body includes a connection end having a distal end face arranged to face the second MPO optical connector when the ferrule body forms the optical connection with the second MPO optical connector. The connection end of the ferrule body defines a recess extending proximally into the ferrule body from the distal end face. A plurality of optical fibers are received in the ferrule body. Distal ends of the optical fibers are adjacent to a proximal end of the recess such that the distal ends of the optical fibers are spaced apart from the second MPO optical connector when the ferrule body forms an optical connection with the second MPO optical connector. The distal ends of the optical fibers are coated with an anti-reflective material.
OPTIC FIBER CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY
An optic fiber connector assembly, including at least one adapter and at least one connector, is provided. The adapter is correspondingly connected to the connector. The adapter includes a first housing, at least one sleeve disposed in the first housing, at least one bridging portion extending out of a side of the first housing, and at least one locking arm extending from the side and located next to the bridging portion. The sleeve extends from an inside of the first housing to the corresponding bridging portion. The connector includes a second housing, a ferrule disposed in the second housing in a penetrating manner, and a spring abutted between the second housing and the ferrule. The second housing is sleeved onto the bridging portion, the ferrule is inserted into the sleeve, and the locking arm is buckled onto the second housing.
FIBER OPTIC CONNECTOR SPRING FORCE CONTROL SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A method of manufacturing a fiber optic connector with a desired ferrule biasing force by first providing a partially assembled fiber optic connector with a front housing slideably to a rear housing. The method includes pressing on a ferrule end face at the distal portion of ferrule with a force measuring device; moving the ferrule end face a predetermined distance relative to the front end of the front housing in a direction toward the rear housing while the force measuring device is pressing on the ferrule end face; moving the rear housing in a direction toward the front end of the front housing until the force measuring device measures a predetermined force.
Preconnectorized multi-fiber drop cables and methods for deploying and assembling preconnectorized multi-fiber drop cables
An optical fiber connector sub-assembly for an optical fiber connector includes a ferrule configured to hold an optical fiber therein along an axis of the connector, a ferrule basket configured to hold the ferrule at a front portion of the connector, a retaining member having a front end portion configured to hold the ferrule holder and a rear end portion configured to receive a fiber optic cable, and a boot configured to be coupled with retaining member. The ferrule basket includes a base portion and a stem portion that extend rearward from the base portion. An outer periphery of the base portion includes two flat portions arranged at a right angle relative to one another, and first ends of the two flat portions that are nearest to one another along the outer periphery of the base portion are connected to one another by a curved bottom portion. Two side curved portions extend from second ends of the two flat portions that are furthest from one another along the outer periphery of the base portion, and top curved portion connects the two side curved portions.
Fiber optic cassette
A fiber optic cassette includes a body defining a front and an opposite rear. A cable entry location is defined on the body for a cable to enter the cassette, wherein a plurality of optical fibers from the cable extend into the cassette and form terminations at non-conventional connectors adjacent the front of the body. A flexible substrate is positioned between the cable entry location and the non-conventional connectors adjacent the front of the body, the flexible substrate rigidly supporting the plurality of optical fibers. Each of the non-conventional connectors adjacent the front of the body includes a ferrule, a ferrule hub supporting the ferrule, and a split sleeve surrounding the ferrule.
Fiber optic connector and method of assembling the same
The present invention discloses a fiber optic connector comprises: a ferrule assembly; a spring seat provided behind the ferrule assembly; and a spring provided between the ferrule assembly and the spring seat. The spring seat has a receiving chamber having an insertion port through which a portion of the ferrule assembly is inserted into the receiving chamber; wherein the ferrule assembly is pre-assembled into the receiving chamber of the spring seat in a way that the ferrule assembly is held to be movably engaged with the spring seat. The spring is fitted and compressed in the receiving chamber. As a result, the ferrule assembly, the spring seat and the spring are pre-assembled into an integral assembly before being inserting into a connector housing. All components of the connector except for the housing may be smoothly pulled through a small long pipe as a whole. After being pulled through the pipe, all components of the connector except for the housing may be easily and quickly inserted into the housing as a whole at one time.
Optical Communications Connectors
In accordance with the following description, an optical communication connector includes a ferrule having retractable alignment pins that are actuable between an extended position and a retracted position. For example, the connector may include an inner housing assembly having optical fibers and an outer housing positioned over the inner housing assembly. The outer housing is shaped to be removable from the inner housing assembly, which has a movable pin clamp mechanically coupled to alignment pins for aligning the connector with another connector. The pin clamp may be slid from a first position (corresponding to a male gender) to a second position (corresponding to a female gender). Separately or in combination with changing gender, the polarity of a communication connector may be changed due to its inclusion of an asymmetric polarity-changing feature that is actuable by an installer to change a polarity of the communication connector. Such a feature may actuated by being moved from a first position to a second position relative to the communication connector.
