The alignment assembly includes a ferrule carrier to which the first fiber ferrule is mounted. The ferrule carrier is mounted to the first connector part by a support structure. The support structure is configured to allow a movement of the ferrule carrier relative to the first connector part in at least a lateral direction that is substantially perpendicular to an engagement direction of the first fiber ferrule with the second fiber ferrule. A first guiding structure is mounted to or forms part of the ferrule carrier. The first guiding structure is configured to mechanically interact with a complementary second guiding structure that is provided in the second connector part.

Optical connector

A fiber optic connector comprises a connector body having a front end and a back end, a boot having a rear portion extending beyond the back end of the connector body, and an actuation element received over at least the rear portion of the boot. The actuation element prevents the boot from moving from a rearward position relative to the connector body to a forward position relative to the connector body, but is also removable from the boot to allow such movement. Methods of installing fiber optic connectors with actuation elements and movable boots are also disclosed.

PRE-CONNECTOR AND COMMUNICATIONS DEVICE
20240255706 · 2024-08-01 ·

This application provides a pre-connector and a communications device. The pre-connector includes a connector component and an outdoor component. The connector component includes a ferrule base and a ferrule that is slidable relative to the ferrule base. The ferrule base is configured to fasten the optical cable, and the ferrule is connected to an optical fiber that is of the optical cable and that is inserted into the ferrule base. In this way, the optical fiber can be connected to the communications device by using the ferrule. The outdoor component includes: a spindle that is sleeved on the ferrule base and that is fastened to the ferrule base; and a handle sleeve sleeved on the spindle. The outdoor component is used as a connecting piece to be detachably fastened and connected to the communications device, so as to provide a locking force used when the communications device is connected.

Fiber Optic Connector Assembly, Apparatus For Forming A Transceiver Interface, And Ferrule
20180231727 · 2018-08-16 ·

An fiber-optic connector assembly includes a fiber optic ferrule and a connector, which engage an optical transceiver component. The fiber optic ferrule engages a mating plane of a lens array in the optical transceiver component and floats within the connector. The engagement of the assembly and the optical transceiver component may be removable rather than fixed. The fiber optic ferrule also engages a mechanical interface to account for three degrees of freedom, while the engagement of the mating surfaces account for another three degrees of freedom.

HYBRID ELECTRICAL/OPTICAL CONNECTOR
20180231728 · 2018-08-16 ·

A single hybrid electrical/optical connector simultaneously forms both electrical and optical input/output connections by a single step engagement between elements on a connector and corresponding elements of the opposite gender on a mating connector. The connector can be surface-mounted on a circuit board, and a mating connector can be vertically pluggable onto the connector. The optical elements on the connector and/or the mating connector can be detachable, which can simplify assembly of a system that includes the circuit board. The hybrid electrical/optical connector has applications for optical transceivers. The hybrid electrical/optical connector includes a housing that extends laterally along a housing plane. The housing includes electrical and optical sockets thereon. In some examples, the electrical sockets and the optical sockets are laterally arranged on opposite sides of a division plane perpendicular to the housing plane.

FIBER OPTIC ADAPTER ASSEMBLY

A fiber optic adapter assembly is provided with a floating adapter module. The adapter assembly includes a housing, an adapter module, and a single biasing member disposed in the housing and concentrically aligned with the adapter module. The single biasing member can bias the adapter module in a direction toward an end of the housing and be compressible in the opposite direction toward the other end of the housing.
