A display panel and a manufacturing method thereof are provided. Each pixel of the display panel includes a transmission region and a reflection region, and the display panel includes a first polarizer, a first base substrate, a first alignment layer, a liquid crystal layer, a second alignment layer, a second base substrate, and a second polarizer. A reflection layer is provided between the second alignment layer and the second polarizer in the reflection region. The liquid crystal layer in the reflection region includes nematic liquid crystal and a polymer network. The liquid crystal layer in the transmission region includes a liquid crystal mixture including the nematic liquid crystal and polymerizable monomers. The polymer network in reflection region is formed by polymerizing the polymerizable monomers in the liquid crystal mixture.

LIQUID CRYSTAL PANELS

A liquid crystal panel includes a first four-domain structure, a second four-domain structure, a third four-domain structure, and a fourth four-domain structure repeatedly arranged. A reference azimuth of the rotated liquid crystal within the first four-domain structure is the same with the second, the reference azimuth of the rotated liquid crystal within the third four-domain structure is the same with the fourth, a difference between the reference azimuth of the rotated liquid crystal within the first four-domain structure and the third four-domain structure is in a range between 40 and 50 degrees. A pretilt angle of the rotated liquid crystal within the first four-domain structure is different from the second, and the pretilt angle of the rotated liquid crystal within the third four-domain structure is different from the fourth. With such configuration, the light leakage and color shift issue may be eliminated.

A double-sided liquid crystal display device is provided, which includes a light guide plate, a light source, a first liquid crystal panel, a second liquid crystal panel and a reflective Dual Brightness Enhancement Film (DBEF). The light guide plate has a light incident side, a first light exit surface and a second light exit surface. The light source is disposed adjacent to the light incident side. The first liquid crystal panel is disposed opposite to the first light exit surface, and a first lower polarizer of the first liquid crystal panel faces the first light exit surface. The DBEF is disposed between the first lower polarizer and the first light exit surface, and a direction of light transmission axis of DBEF is in parallel with that of the first lower polarizer, and the direction of light transmission axis of DBEF is perpendicular to that of the second upper polarizer.

LIQUID CRYSTAL DEVICES

A LCD includes a liquid crystal panel, a backlight module opposite to the liquid crystal panel, at least one quantum rod film and at least one wavelength film. The quantum rod film is between the liquid crystal panel and the backlight module, and the wavelength film is between the quantum rod film and the liquid crystal panel. Light beams generated by the backlight module pass through the quantum rod film and the wavelength film in sequence to arrive the liquid crystal panel. By adopting the quantum rod film, the saturation of the LCD may be greatly enhanced.

A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal panel includes irradiating a film of a photo-alignment film material formed on a surface of a substrate with light emitted from a light source and polarized by polarizers, the polarized light irradiation being performed while the substrate and/or the light source is moved, each of the polarizers including a polarized light transmissive region and a light-shielding region that surrounds the polarized light transmissive region, the polarized light transmissive region including end portions where the width of the polarized light transmissive region in a Y direction decreases toward the ends in an X direction, the polarizers being coupled with each other such that at least one end portion of each polarized light transmissive region is superimposed on an end portion of an adjacent polarized light transmissive region as viewed in the Y direction, wherein the X direction and the Y direction are perpendicular to each other in a plane parallel to the main surfaces of the polarizers, and the Y direction is a moving direction of the substrate relative to the light source.

Provided is a liquid crystal display device and a polarizing plate capable of improving the contrast ratio in the front direction. A three-dimensional light modulator, of which the pixels are combined to form modulation elements. Each modulation element can be coded with a preset discrete value such that three-dimensionally arranged object points can be holographically reconstructed. The light modulator is characterized in that assigned to the pixels of the modulator are beam splitters or beam combiners which, for each modulation element, combine the light wave parts modulated by the pixels by means of refraction or diffraction on the output side to form a common light beam which exits the modulation element in a set propagation direction.
