SMART CARD
20220156542 · 2022-05-19 · ·

A smart card includes a first circuit delivering a power supply voltage and a second circuit coupled to the first circuit by an electrical conductor and powered with the power supply voltage. A light-emitting diode has a first terminal coupled to the electrical conductor and a second terminal coupled to a first terminal of the second circuit. During a first operating phase, the first circuit delivers a first value of the power supply voltage and the second circuit applies a first voltage to the first terminal. During a second operating phase, the first circuit delivers a second value of the power supply voltage and the second circuit applies a second voltage to the first terminal.

ARTICLE-IDENTIFICATION-AND-LOCATION DEVICE SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USING SAME

A luggage tag includes an electronic ink display screen affixed to a surface of the luggage tag. Tag memory of the tag stores a unique identifier. An antenna receives an electromagnetic signal. Circuitry of the tag captures energy and acquires data from the electromagnetic signal received by the antenna and powers the electronic ink display with the captured energy. A processor receives the data acquired by the circuitry from the electromagnetic signal and produces an image on the electronic ink display using the acquired data if the acquired data includes a match to the unique identifier stored in the memory.

SMART CARD WITH ACTIVE DIRECTIONAL INDICIA AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF

A smart card includes a plurality of display devices on an outside surface of a housing. Circuitry within the housing includes a processor, and communication circuitry configured to communicate with at least one computing device located within a geographic region around the smart card. The processor is configured to continuously receive a plurality of communication signals from the computing device, to continuously assess a geographic distance from the smart card to the fixed position of the computing device within the geographic region using the plurality of communication signals, to continuously activate or deactivate the plurality of display devices based on the geographic distance from the smart card to the fixed position of the computing device in the geographic region for providing a user with a directional indication, distance indication, or both, to the computing device in the geographic region.

METAL, CERAMIC, OR CERAMIC-COATED TRANSACTION CARD WITH WINDOW OR WINDOW PATTERN AND OPTIONAL BACKLIGHTING
20230252259 · 2023-08-10 · ·

A transaction card includes at least one metal layer having one or more apertures therein. A light guide is disposed beneath the metal layer. The light guide has a light output and a light input. The light output is positioned to transmit light through at least the one or more apertures of the metal layer. At least one LED is positioned to transmit light into the light input of the light guide.

SECURITY DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR DYNAMIC TRANSACTION CARDS
20230245115 · 2023-08-03 ·

A dynamic transaction card including: one or more light emitting elements; a transceiver; and an embedded microprocessor configured to: receive, from a transaction terminal, a location information corresponding to a current location of the transaction terminal; wirelessly transmit, via the transceiver and to a mobile device, the location information; receive an indication that a location-specific security concern exists; and in response to receiving the indication, control the one or more light emitting elements to display a visual indication corresponding to the location-specific security concern.

PAYMENT CARD WITH LIGHT-BASED SIGNATURE
20220121892 · 2022-04-21 ·

Systems, methods and apparatus are provided for light-based authentication of a payment card. The payment card may include a randomized mix of materials. The materials may include transparent or translucent materials. A light source may shine light on a surface of the payment card. Light passing through the card may generate a light pattern that is unique to the payment card. The light pattern may be captured and compared to a reference light pattern to authenticate the payment card. In some embodiments, photodetectors may detect light patterns generated through interactions with the card materials.

CATTLE TRACKING SYSTEM

An animal tracking system comprising a first LoRa receiver configured as a gateway to receive transmissions on a first set of channels or a second set of channels and forward said transmissions to a first remote server, and a transmitting tag configured to be affixed to an animal. The transmitting tag includes a memory configured to store digital information, a passive RFID receiver configured to detect a close proximity to an RFID transmitter and store detection of the close proximity in comprising in the memory, a processor configured to determine an alarm status according to a frequency of detection of the close proximity, an internal energy source, and a LoRa transmitter configured to transmit signals for a distance greater than 100 meters via energy from the internal energy source.

SYSTEM, METHOD, AND APPARATUS FOR UPDATING AN EXISTING DYNAMIC TRANSACTION CARD
20220019999 · 2022-01-20 ·

A system for securely updating an electronic transaction card held by an account holder with an additional account and/or account data is described. A dynamic transaction card may be securely updated with an additional account by using pre-stored shell data and/or inactive data, whereby the pre-stored shell data may be populated using data received from an issuer system and/or the inactive data may be activated via an activation signal received from a mobile device. A backend server may determine, via a fraud determination, expiration determination, and/or user-request, that new account data should be transmitted to an account holder. The dynamic transaction card may receive the data associated with a notification, update a display, instruct an EMV applet to use a key associated with a received EMV key identifier for signatures, and/or update any additional data stored on the dynamic transaction card.
