Chemical and physical sensing with a reader and RFID tags
A method of detecting a stimulus can include detecting an output from a radio frequency identification tag including a sensor. A smartphone-based sensing strategy can use chemiresponsive nanomaterials integrated into the circuitry of commercial Near Field Communication tags to achieve non-line-of-sight, portable, and inexpensive detection and discrimination of gas phase chemicals (e.g., ammonia, hydrogen peroxide, cyclohexanone, and water) at part-per-thousand and part-per-million concentrations.
OBJECT IDENTIFICATION DEVICE, SYSTEM, AND METHOD
An object identification device includes a visual indicator, an RFID module, and an NFC assembly. The RFID module includes identification data. The RFID module harvests power from an electromagnetic field and may continuously direct that power to the visual indicator upon reception of a command conveyed by the electromagnetic field. The NFC assembly includes data associated with the identification data included in the RFID module. The NFC assembly may transmit the data included therein to a consumer communication device having NFC capabilities.
RFID devices using metamaterial antennas
A radio frequency identifier (RFID) tag can comprise an RFID chip, an antenna provided by a patch cell stack; and a feed line electrically coupling the RFID chip to the antenna. An equivalent circuit for the patch cell stack can comprise at least one inductance group comprising at least two series inductances, and at least one shunt capacitance. The antenna can have a composite right- and left-handed (CRLH) structure.
System and method for directing an object to move on an interactive surface through a defined path
The present invention discloses a system and accompanying method for directing the movement of an object on an interactive surface through a defined path. The system includes an object embedded with a unique identification code (UID), a movement module, and a distinct pattern of capacitive tabs near the surface of the object that makes contact with the interactive surface, an interactive surface configured to recognize the UID, location and orientation information of an object placed on the interactive surface, and a processor operatively linked to the interactive surface and configured to direct, track and correct the movement of the object along a defined path on the interactive surface by tracking the UID, location and orientation of the object continuously and throughout the movement. A centralized control mode is applied in the present invention, which makes the structure of the electronic hardware within the moving object substantially simplified, which leads to a decreased manufacturing cost, and, from an aesthetic point of view, the logic clearer and easily understood.
RADIO-FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION (RFID) CAPACITANCE LIQUID MEASUREMENT TAG SYSTEM
The system and techniques disclose herein describe a radio-frequency identification (RFID) capacitance liquid measurement and tag (RCLMT) system for detecting a volume of liquid in a container (liquid level detection), for example an amount of wine inside of a wine bottle. The RCLMT system includes a RFID chip, flexible printed circuit board (PCB), capacitive strips, and adhesive which implements a RFID tag-based sensor that advantageously uses low power and has low cost. Further, a user platform, including the RCLMT system and computer software applications (apps) and a backend system (e.g., cloud service) is described herein. The RCLMT system acts as a passive liquid level detection sensor, which enables the amount of a liquid beverage, such as alcohol, that is inside of a container to be automatically and accurately ascertained.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A RADIOFREQUENCY ANTENNA ON A SUBSTRATE AND ANTENNA THUS OBTAINED
The invention relates to a method for manufacturing an antenna for a radiofrequency transponder, said antenna including a spiral comprising turns which extend, at least in part, over an insulating substrate; the method is characterised in that it includes the step ac-cording to which at least one first portion of each turn is deposited on said substrate at a first plane level, at least one second portion of each turn being formed or kept at a distance from the first plane level of the substrate, the axis of the spiral being parallel to the plane of the substrate. The invention also relates to a portable electronic object comprising, in a fixed or removable manner, the obtained antenna.
MULTI-CHIP SMART CARD
Systems and methods are provided for a smart card to emulate chip cards and/or magnetic stripe cards. A smart card may attach to a device that programs the smart card to emulate the chip cards and/or the magnetic stripe cards. The base device may carry information regarding each card to be emulated, and may display a representation of such cards to be emulated on a touch display of the base device. A user may select a card to be emulated by interacting with the touch display. The smart card may include a contact area, a plurality of chips, and a switch to transmit signals between the contact area and a selected chip representing the card to be emulated.
DISABLEMENT INDICATOR ON A PROGRAMMABLE SMART CARD
Systems and methods are provided for a smart card to emulate chip cards and/or magnetic stripe cards. A smart card may attach to a device that programs the smart card to emulate the chip cards and/or the magnetic stripe cards. The base device may carry information regarding each card to be emulated, and may display a representation of such cards to be emulated on a touch display of the base device. A user may select a card to be emulated by interacting with the touch display. When the smart card is removed from the base device, a timer on the smart card and a timer on the base device are executed for the same period of time. Upon expiration of the smart card timer, the smart card is disabled. Upon expiration of the base device timer, the display of the base device indicates that the smart card is disabled.
ANTENNA DECOUPLED FROM PROGRAMMABLE SMART CARD
Systems and methods are provided for a smart card to emulate chip cards and/or magnetic stripe cards. A smart card may attach to a device that programs the smart card to emulate the chip cards and/or the magnetic stripe cards. The base device may carry information regarding each card to be emulated, and may display a representation of such cards to be emulated on a touch display of the base device. A user may select a card to be emulated by interacting with the touch display. The smart card may include an antenna and a contact area, and two contacts of the contact area may provide an electrical path from the base device to the antenna of the smart card.
