Magnetic head and magnetic recording and reproducing device
According to one embodiment, a magnetic head includes a magnetic pole, a first shield, and a stacked body. The stacked body is provided between the magnetic pole and the first shield. The stacked body includes a magnetic layer including at least one selected from the group consisting of Fe, Co, and Ni, a first conductive layer provided between the magnetic pole and the magnetic layer, the first conductive layer being nonmagnetic, and a second conductive layer provided between the magnetic layer and the first shield, the second conductive layer being nonmagnetic. The first conductive layer includes Ir. A thickness of the first conductive layer along a first direction is not less than 0.3 nm and not more than 0.8 nm. The first direction is from the first conductive layer toward the second conductive layer.
Spintronic devices with narrow spin polarization layers
In one embodiment, a write head includes a spin polarization layer (SPL) over a seed layer. A spacer layer is over the SPL. A trailing shield is over the spacer layer. The spacer layer forms a first interface between the spacer layer and the trailing shield and forms a second interface between the spacer layer and the SPL. The first interface has an area larger than an area of the second interface. In another embodiment, a write head includes a SPL over a spacer layer. A capping layer is over the SPL. A trailing shield is over the capping layer. The spacer layer forms a first interface between the spacer layer and the main pole and forms a second interface between the spacer layer and the SPL. The first interface has an area larger than an area of the second interface.
Writer with Narrower High Moment Trailing Shield
A PMR (perpendicular magnetic recording) write head configured for microwave assisted magnetic recording (MAMR) in the form of spin assisted writing (SAW) or spin torque oscillation (STO) includes a spin-torque oscillator (STO) or SAW device and trailing shield formed of high moment magnetic material (HMTS). By patterning the STO or SAW and the HMTS in a simultaneous process the HMTS and the STO or SAW layers are precisely aligned and have very similar cross-track widths. In addition, the write gap at an off-center location has a thickness that is independent from its center-track thickness and the write gap total width can have a flexible range whose minimum value is the same width as the STO or SAW width.

According to one embodiment, a magnetic head includes a magnetic pole, a first shield, a magnetic layer, and first and second conductive layers. The magnetic layer is provided between the magnetic pole and the first shield. The first conductive layer contacts the first shield and the magnetic layer, is provided between the first shield and the magnetic layer, and includes at least one element selected from Cu, Ag, and Au. The second conductive layer is provided between the magnetic pole and the magnetic layer. The second conductive layer includes first and second regions. The first region contacts the magnetic layer and includes at least one first element selected from Cu, Ag, Au, Al, Ti, Ru, Mg, and V. The second region is provided between the first region and the magnetic pole and includes at least one second element selected from Ta, Pt, W, Mo, Ir, Cr, Tb, Rh, and Pd. This arrangement allows the magnetic field emitted from the magnetic pole to be oriented efficiently towards the magnetic recording medium and recording density to be increased.

MAMR recording head with high damping trailing shield seed layer
A microwave assisted magnetic recording (MAMR) write head includes a main pole and a trailing shield. A spin torque oscillator device is disposed between the main pole and the trailing shield. The spin torque oscillator device includes a free layer. A trailing shield hot seed layer is disposed between the spin torque oscillator device and the trailing shield. The trailing shield hot seed layer includes a magnetic material doped with a rare earth element. In certain embodiments, the trailing shield hot seed layer includes the rare earth element in an atomic percent content from about 2% to about 10% atomic percent. In certain embodiments, the trailing shield hot seed layer has an intrinsic damping from about 0.02 to about 0.2.

Magnetic recording and reproducing device having a magnetic recording head including a magnetic flux control layer between a main magnetic pole and an auxiliary magnetic pole
According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording and reproducing device includes a magnetic flux control layer provided between a main magnetic pole and an auxiliary magnetic pole, and a protective layer provided on an ABS of the auxiliary magnetic pole. The magnetic flux control layer includes an adjustment layer formed of a magnetic material including one of Fe, Co or Ni and is provided between a first conductive layer and a second conductive layer, and generates a spin torque and inverts a direction of magnetization in the adjustment layer, when current is supplied. A voltage Vb applied to the magnetic flux control layer is lower than a voltage Vba represented by an expression (1), Vba=Vb.sub.0a1/log(t)log(RH)log(P.sub.O2).
