Optical sensor system
An optical sensor system with two or more optical sensors; two or more receivers; and an optical de-multiplexing system. Each optical sensor includes a fibre grating with a different wavelength characteristic. Each receiver includes a slope filter and a light detector and is associated with a respective one of the optical sensors. The optical de-multiplexing system is arranged to route light from each of the optical sensors to its associated receiver based on a wavelength of the light.
APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR HIGH-SPEED AND LONG DEPTH RANGE IMAGING USING OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY
Exemplary apparatus can be provided which can include a laser arrangement that is configured to provide a laser radiation, and including an optical cavity. The optical cavity can include a dispersive optical waveguide first arrangement having first and second sides, and which is configured to (i) receive at least one first electro-magnetic radiation at the first side so as to provide at least one second electro-magnetic radiation, and (ii) to receive at least one third electro-magnetic radiation at the second side so as to provide at least one fourth electro-magnetic radiation. The first and second sides are different from one another, and the second and third radiations are related to one another. The optical cavity can also include an active optical modulator second arrangement which can be configured to receive and modulate the fourth radiation so as to provide the first electro-magnetic radiation to the first arrangement. The laser radiation can be associated with at least one of the first, second, third or fourth radiations.
SENSOR ARRANGEMENT
A fiber optic sensor arrangement is disclosed that includes a plurality of optical fiber based sensor elements, the sensor elements configured to modify an associated optical carrier signal in accordance with changes in a sensed quantity at a location of the sensor element and a phase modulation arrangement for phase modulating each optical carrier signal in accordance with respective uncorrelated pseudorandom binary sequence signals. The sensor arrangement also includes an interferometer module for receiving each of the phase modulated optical carrier signals, the interferometer module operable to convert a change in the phase modulated optical carrier signals to a change in optical intensity of the corresponding optical carrier signal to generate a combined modulated optical intensity signal, an optical intensity detector for measuring the combined modulated optical intensity signal and generating a time varying electrical detector signal and an analog to digital convertor to convert the time varying electrical detector signal to a time varying digitized detector signal. Also included in the sensor arrangement is a decorrelator arrangement for decorrelating the time varying digitized detector signal against the respective uncorrelated pseudorandom binary sequence corresponding to each of the optical carrier signals to recover each of the modulated optical carrier signals and a demodulator for demodulating each of the modulated optical carrier signals to recover the respective optical carrier signal to determine the changes in the sensed quantity at the location of the sensor element.
OPTICAL FLAME-SENSOR
An optical flame-sensor includes an optical circulator, an optical-fiber cavity, and a first optical sensor. The optical circulator includes a first port, a second port, and a third port. The first port is configured to receive an optical signal. The second port is configured to output the optical signal received at the first port. The third port is configured to output the input to the second port. The optical-fiber cavity includes a cavity proximal-end optically coupled to the second port, and a mirror at a cavity distal-end, such that a cavity optical signal output by the optical-fiber cavity is the input to the second port. The first optical sensor is optically coupled to the third port to quantify the cavity optical signal.
OPTICAL DUPLEXER AND OPTICAL TRANSCEIVING SYSTEM
An optical duplexer adapted to convert dual fiber bidirectional transmission into single fiber bidirectional wavelength or wavelength group transmission is provided. The optical duplexer includes an optical circulator, a first male fiber connector, a second female fiber connector, and a third male fiber connector. The optical circulator includes a first port, a second port, and a third port. The first port receives a first light signal. The second port transmits the first light signal and receives a second light signal. The third port transmits the second light signal. The first male fiber connector couples to the first port. The second female fiber connector couples to the second port. The third male fiber connector couples to the third port.
Avionics system for an aircraft
A system installed on an aircraft. The system includes a memory storing static information in one or more optical fibre gratings; and an interrogator. The interrogator includes a light source configured to transmit interrogation light to the memory, a receiver configured to receive return light from the memory, and an analyser configured to analyse the return light to obtain the static information.
Photonic Wafer Level Testing Systems, Devices, and Methods of Operation
A photonic testing device includes a substrate, an optical device under test (DUT) disposed over the substrate, and an optical input circuit disposed over the substrate. The optical input circuit includes a first plurality of inputs each configured to transmit a respective optical test signal of a plurality of optical test signals. Each of the plurality of optical test signals includes a respective dominant wavelength of a plurality of dominant wavelengths. The optical input circuit further includes an output coupled to an input waveguide of the optical DUT. The output is configured to transmit a combined optical test signal comprising the plurality of optical test signals.

A communication apparatus for a fiber-optic communication system for an aircraft that includes: an optical coupler; an input port optically coupled to the optical coupler via a first waveguide, the input port arranged to receive light; a modulator optically coupled to the optical coupler via a second waveguide, the modulator having a logic input and a fiber having a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) receiving light from the input port via the optical coupler, the modulator operable to vary a strain force applied to the fiber according to a logic signal received at the logic input to modulate a wavelength of a modulated light signal reflected by the FBG back to the optical coupler; and an output port optically coupled to the optical coupler via a third waveguide to receive the modulated light signal therefrom, the output port being operable to output the modulated light signal.
