INDICATOR ACTIVATION OVER AN ALTERNATIVE CABLE PATH
A method is disclosed to identify a port that is associated with a faulty cable. In one embodiment, such a method identifies a cable to replace. The cable provides a path between a first port, residing on a first component, and a second port, residing on a second component. The method further identifies whether an alternative path, bypassing the first cable, exists between the first component and the second component. In the event the alternative path exists, the method sends, over the alternative path, from the first component to the second component, a command to activate an indicator on the second port. This command is received and executed by the second component to activate the indicator. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also disclosed.

Underground Layable Power Cable, In Particular, a Submarine Cable
An underground layable power cable, in particular a submarine cable, having at least one phase conductor and at least one optical fiber conductor. The optical fiber conductor is integrated in the phase conductor. The optical fiber conductor may include at least one optical fiber. Further, the optical fiber may be surrounded by at least one protective layer, which may be formed from a plastic-gel combination. The gel may at least one of a silicone gel, a glass fiber material, or a carbon fiber material.
Insulated wire capable of changing color when overheated under current load and method for making the same
An insulated wire capable of changing color when overheated under a current load includes an insulated core, at least one thermochromic strip, and a transparent plastic protective layer. The thermochromic strip is wound and fixed on the peripheral surface of the insulated core. The transparent plastic protective layer clads the peripheral surface of the insulated core and/or the top surface of the thermochromic strip. When the insulated core is overloaded and generates heat, the heat is transmitted to, and thereby changes the color of, the thermochromic strip. The color change is visible through the transparent plastic protective layer and can therefore alert the wire user in real time that the load on the insulated wire should be lowered.
LCDI Power Cord
A power cord with leakage current detection function includes an insulated neutral wire and aluminum foil wrapping or surrounding the neutral wire insulator. The neutral wire aluminum foil has a conductive side and a non-conductive side, wherein the non-conductive side is adjacent to the outside of the neutral wire insulator and the conductive side is facing outwards. The power cord also includes an insulated line wire surrounded by aluminum foil where the conductive side is facing outwards and in contact with the conductive side of the aluminum foil surround the neutral wire. The power cord also includes a copper braid surrounding an insulated ground wire, wherein the copper braid is in simultaneous electrical contact with the conductive sides of the line and neutral aluminum foil wraps.
