A hybrid cable for collecting data inside a well includes an electrical cable extending along a longitudinal axis of the hybrid cable, an optical fiber extending along the longitudinal axis, an armor that extends along the longitudinal axis, and encircles the electrical cable and the optical fiber, and a connecting device extending along the longitudinal axis, to enclose the electrical cable and the optical fiber, and to be enclosed by the armor. The connecting device has an unsmooth external surface.

Power and optical fiber interface

A power and optical fiber interface system includes a housing having an interior. A cable inlet is configured to receive a hybrid cable having an electrical conductor and an optical fiber. An insulation displacement connector (IDC) is situated in the interior of the housing configured to electrically terminate the conductor, and a cable outlet is configured to receive an output cable that is connectable to the IDC and configured to output signals received via the optical fiber.

Methods for bonding stranded cable subunits to central member

Bundled cables and methods for preparing bundled cable are disclosed herein. In the method, a plurality of subunits is wound about a central member. The subunits include a subunit jacket made of a first thermoplastic composition and has a first outer surface, and the central member includes a central member jacket made of a second thermoplastic composition and has a second outer surface. A metal element is provided at an interface of the second outer surface and the first outer surface of the subunits. The metal element is heated such that at least one of the first thermoplastic composition or the second thermoplastic composition forms bonds with the other of the first thermoplastic composition or the second thermoplastic composition.

A cable contains a core including a transmissive element and a coating layer made of a coating material. The coating material contains, with respect to the total weight of polymeric materials present in the composition, (i) 70% to 95% by weight of a recycled linear low density polyethylene (r-LLDPE); and (ii) 5 to 30% by weight of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA). The EVA may be added to the r-LLDPE or, alternatively, be already contained in the r-LLDPE as a result of previous LLDPE use. The cable may further contain a skin layer placed around and in direct contact with the coating layer based on r-LLDPE.

DATA AND POWER CABLES SUITABLE FOR IMMERSION COOLING

A sealed cable assembly includes a jacket enclosing a plurality of insulated wires. Each insulated wire includes a bare wire covered by surrounding insulation, and a cable plug or connector is electrically connected with the bare wires. A sealant surrounds the insulated wires in an air gap between the jacket and the insulated wires in a location at or near the cable plug or connector, and the sealant fills the air gap at the location to prevent or reduce fluid loss through the cable in an immersion cooling system. The cable assembly can also be sealed at an in-between section away from the cable plug or connector. The cable assembly is wrapped with a weatherproof film or tape at the location of the sealing to further prevent or reduce fluid loss through the cable.
