Insulator for overhead power lines with a protected leakage currents detector
An overhead power line insulator comprises a dielectric element (4) having an outside surface forming a skirt (5) with a head extended by a metal attachment fitting (7) for attaching the insulator, and a device for detecting surface leakage current flowing on the dielectric (4), the device comprising a conductive ring (8) that surrounds the fitting (7) and that is in contact with the outside surface of the dielectric (4). An electrically insulating protective element (10) is provided in the form of a collared bushing that surrounds the fitting (7), being interposed between the ring (8) and the fitting (7) and extending radially so as to overlie the ring (8) in order to protect it from environmental pollution.
HIGH-VOLTAGE DEVICE FEATURING TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT, AND METHOD FOR MEASURING THE TEMPERATURE OF A HIGH-VOLTAGE DEVICE
A high-voltage device has an inner conductor and an insulating member that surrounds the inner conductor along the longitudinal direction thereof. In order to increase the reliability of the high-voltage device, at least one optical waveguide rests against the inner conductor in at least some sections, extends out of the insulating member and can be connected to an evaluation unit for recording measured temperature values. Furthermore a method measures a temperature of the inner conductor of the high-voltage device.
INSULATED JOYSTICK ASSEMBLY
A joystick assembly is disclosed. In embodiments, the joystick controls a boom and aids in insulating a user from potential electric shock. Handle utilized by the operator may be made of, or at least one surface coated or covered in, material highly-resistant to electric current. The highly-resistant material may also extend to other components such as, a connecting rod, and a mounting base. The highly-resistant components may separate the operator from electrically charged components. As well as separating the operator from potentially electrically charged components, the rod may be received at the base by force measuring sensors, or strain measuring sensors may be attached to the rod. This allows the handle and rod to be stationary and, in embodiments, rigid, and only the applied force to be measured, thus decreasing the number of components needed in the assembly.
Topological insulator tubes applied to signal transmission systems
A system for providing electrical and optical interconnection using a 3D non-carbon-based topological insulator (TI) is disclosed. The system includes a length of the TI having a tube shape having wall thickness of about 10 nm to about 200 nm and a hollow interior portion surrounded by an interior surface of the TI. The length includes a first end and a second end, wherein the first end is configured to receive an optical signal, an electrical signal, or both. The optical signal propagates in the hollow interior portion along the length to the second end by total internal reflection due to a refractive index of the interior surface of the TI. The electrical signal propagates along an external surface of the TI to the second end.
ELECTRICAL WIRE HAVING LEAKAGE CURRENT LIMITING FUNCTION
The present disclosure relates to an electrical wire having a leakage current limiting function, in which, since a neutral line is provided to have a greater cross-sectional area than that of a phase voltage line, a leakage current leaking from the phase voltage line may be limited, and thus the risk of electric shock to the human body due to the leakage current may be minimized.
