The cathode of the electrolytic capacitor comprising cathode foil formed of valve action metal, and a conductive layer formed on a surface of the cathode foil. When current in a range of current density of leakage current of the electrolytic capacitor flows by electrochemical polarization, potential corresponding to said current is at a higher side than a natural immersion potential of reference cathode foil formed of the valve action metal with purity of 99.9%.

A method for producing an electrolytic capacitor includes: preparing an anode foil, a cathode foil, and a fibrous structure, the anode foil having a porous portion including a dielectric layer; preparing a conductive polymer-containing liquid, the conductive polymer-containing liquid containing a conductive polymer component and a first solvent;

forming a separator by removing at least a part of the first solvent after applying the conductive polymer-containing liquid to the fibrous structure; forming a capacitor element from the anode foil, the separator, and the cathode foil; and impregnating the capacitor element with an electrolytic solution. An electrical conductivity of the electrolytic solution at 30° C. is 3.0 mS/cm or more.

A composite electrode foil roll for manufacturing an electrolytic capacitor, including: bands of electrode foils; strips of an isolating material positioned along a width of the composite electrode foil roll at a plurality of locations. The plurality of locations are at equal distances and correspond to a length of an inner cavity of a case of the electrolytic capacitor. The bands of electrode foils and strips of an isolating material are alternating. A method of manufacturing the composite electrode foil roll including alternating bands of electrode foils and strips of an isolating material. The strips are positioned along a width of the composite electrode foil roll at repeated locations. The repeated locations are at equal distances corresponding to a length of an inner cavity of a case of the electrolytic capacitor.

A motor controller assembly is configured for use with an electric motor and includes a controller and an absorbent pad. The controller includes a capacitor with a capacitor shell and a liquid electrolyte contained therein. The capacitor shell has a frangible rupture area that opens during a capacitor rupture event to permit the discharge of liquid electrolyte from the capacitor shell. The absorbent pad overlies the rupture area to collect discharged liquid electrolyte.

A motor controller assembly is configured for use with an electric motor and includes a controller and an absorbent pad. The controller includes a capacitor with a capacitor shell and a liquid electrolyte contained therein. The capacitor shell has a frangible rupture area that opens during a capacitor rupture event to permit the discharge of liquid electrolyte from the capacitor shell. The absorbent pad overlies the rupture area to collect discharged liquid electrolyte.

An electrolytic capacitor includes a capacitor element and a liquid component. The capacitor element includes an anode body that includes a dielectric layer on a surface of the anode body and a conductive polymer that covers a part of the dielectric layer. The liquid component includes a sugar alcohol component and a polyalkylene glycol component. The sugar alcohol component contains at least one selected from the group consisting of a sugar alcohol having four or more hydroxy groups and a derivative of the sugar alcohol.

An electrolytic capacitor includes a capacitor element, a liquid component, a case housing the capacitor element and the liquid component, and a sealing member sealing the case. the capacitor element includes a porous sintered body including a dielectric layer, a cathode foil facing at least a part of the porous sintered body, and a conductive polymer covering at least a part of a surface of the dielectric layer. The conductive polymer is in contact with the cathode foil. And a void in the capacitor element is impregnated with the liquid component.

Disclosed is an electrolytic capacitor including a capacitor element. The capacitor element includes an anode body having a dielectric layer formed at a surface of the anode body, and an electrolyte layer disposed adjacent to the dielectric layer. The electrolyte layer contains a conductive polymer doped with a dopant, conductive particles, and a non-aqueous solvent.

An apparatus is disclosed which includes an electrolytic capacitive element with multiple capacitor sections.
