Enclosure and optimizations

A connector assembly is provided for facilitating live connection of equipment in a switchgear. The assembly includes two circular plates, and conductive fingers which are arranged and spaced apart around the two plates to form a finger cluster with first open-end on a first cluster end and second open-end on an opposite second cluster end. Each open-end can receive a conductor therein. Each finger can include a first finger end and an opposite second finger end which form respective first and second cluster ends; two first interior grooves which are spaced-apart on an interior surface to receive a portion of respective plates; and first and second exterior grooves on an exterior surface around the first and second finger ends respectively. The assembly also includes first and second garter springs which are arranged around the fingers in respective first and second exterior grooves to apply a force against the fingers.

Enclosure and Optimizations

A switchgear assembly includes an enclosure having a plurality of compartments for housing switchgear components. The plurality of compartments includes at least one compartment for housing switching or protective equipment. The enclosure includes: a plurality of vents for venting gases from an interior of the enclosure, the plurality of vents including at least one top vent at a top of the enclosure; and at least one pair of vertical walls along a first side of the at least one compartment housing a breaker or other switching or protective equipment. The pair of vertical walls have a passage therebetween for directing gases from an interior bottom area below the breaker or other switching or protective equipment to the at least one top vent of the enclosure. One of vertical walls of each pair of vertical walls is an outer wall of the at least one compartment.

Enclosure and Optimizations

A switchgear assembly includes an enclosure having a plurality of compartments for housing switchgear components. The plurality of compartments includes at least one compartment for housing switching or protective equipment. The enclosure includes: a plurality of vents for venting gases from an interior of the enclosure, the plurality of vents including at least one top vent at a top of the enclosure; and at least one pair of vertical walls along a first side of the at least one compartment housing a breaker or other switching or protective equipment. The pair of vertical walls have a passage therebetween for directing gases from an interior bottom area below the breaker or other switching or protective equipment to the at least one top vent of the enclosure. One of vertical walls of each pair of vertical walls is an outer wall of the at least one compartment.

INTEGRATED CONTACTOR MOUNTING POST

A contactor assembly post is provided. The contactor assembly post includes a first portion electrically connected to an external bus bar at an exterior of an electrical contactor housing, a second portion electrically connected to an internal bus bar at the exterior of the electrical contactor housing, a third portion and fins. The internal bus bar is configured to extend into an interior of the electrical contactor housing to be electrically coupled to another internal bus bar. The third portion extends transversely between the first and second portions. The fins extend transversely from multiple points defined along a longitudinal axis of the third portion.

Vacuum circuit interrupter

A vacuum interrupter assembly is provided. The vacuum interrupter assembly includes an operating mechanism, a vacuum chamber including a number of bellows assemblies, a conductor assembly including a first contact assembly and a second contact assembly, the first contact assembly including a stem and a contact member, the first contact assembly stem including an elongated body with a proximal first end, a medial portion, and a distal second end. The first contact assembly stem body has a reduced length. The first contact assembly stem body having a reduced length generates less heat and electrical resistance.

Vacuum circuit interrupter

A vacuum interrupter assembly is provided. The vacuum interrupter assembly includes an operating mechanism, a vacuum chamber including a number of bellows assemblies, a conductor assembly including a first contact assembly and a second contact assembly, the first contact assembly including a stem and a contact member, the first contact assembly stem including an elongated body with a proximal first end, a medial portion, and a distal second end. The first contact assembly stem body has a reduced length. The first contact assembly stem body having a reduced length generates less heat and electrical resistance.

A contactor includes a housing having a wall defining a cavity and a cover closing the cavity. The contactor includes a first fixed contact and a second fixed contact received in the cavity. The contactor includes a movable contact movable within the cavity between a mated position and an unmated position. The movable contact engages the first and second fixed contacts to electrically connect the first fixed contact and the second fixed contact in the mated position. The contactor includes a coil assembly in the cavity operated to move the movable contact between the unmated position and the mating position. The contactor includes a thermal absorber thermally coupled to the first fixed contact to reduce an operating temperature of the first fixed contact. The thermal absorber includes a phase change material element configured to absorb heat from the first fixed contact.
