Powered surgical instrument with pressure sensitive motor speed control

A surgical instrument includes a drive shaft, a motor for rotating the drive shaft, and a motor speed control. The motor speed control includes a first switch and a second switch which are in communication with the motor. The first switch is disposed over and in registration with the second switch. The first switch has an activated state such that the first switch sends a first signal to the motor. The motor rotates the drive shaft in response to the first signal. The second switch sends a second signal to the motor that varies the speed that the motor rotates the drive shaft in response to a force applied to the second switch by the first switch.

Dual push button switch assembly for a vehicle

A dual push button switch assembly for a vehicle includes an elastic button being moveable between a first unactuated position and a second actuated position, an actuator that is movable between a first position and a second position, and first and second switches. When the elastic button is in the first unactuated position, a resilient dome biases the actuator into the first position, and when the elastic button is moved towards the second actuated position, a force applied to the elastic button is transmitted to the actuator to move the actuator towards the second position, and wherein as the actuator moves towards the second position, the first and second switches are activated.

Apparatus and method for activating switches

Apparatuses and methods for activating a switch are provided. The switch is supported by one of a bracket and a panel and includes a switch body and a switch plunger that is moveably coupled to the switch body to activate and deactivate the switch. In one example, the apparatus includes a clamp body that is configured to be removably coupled to the one of the bracket and the panel and that has an opening formed therethrough. The apparatus further includes a rod portion having a first end portion that has a surface that includes a first concave surface. The rod portion is configured to be advanced through the opening. The surface interfaces with the switch plunger and moves the switch plunger to activate the switch when the clamp body is coupled to the one of the bracket and the panel and when the rod portion is advanced through the opening.

Provided is a multi-position electrical switch. The multi-position switch includes an enclosure and a stem structured and arranged to move along a vertical axis within the enclosure. The stem provides a plurality of distinct horizontal protrusions as physical deactivators at different elevations along the vertical axis. A plurality of distinct electrical contacts are provided by a paired stationary element and a movable element for flexibly making and breaking electrical contact with the stationary element, the movable element biased for contact with the stationary element. Each distinct electrical contact is associated with at least one distinct horizontal protrusion. A spring disposing the stem in an initial position in which the plurality of distinct horizontal protrusions dispose all of the movable elements in broken contact. Depression of the stem along the vertical axis transitions the distinct horizontal protrusions away from the movable elements permitting contact with their paired stationary elements.
