Modules, systems, and methods for monitoring environmental conditions
Modules, systems, and methods for monitoring environmental conditions, such as physical, electromagnetic, thermal, and/or chemical parameters within an environment, over extended periods of time with the use of one or more electromechanical sensing devices that include a sensing device and electronic circuitry for processing an output of the sensing device and generating a output of the module. The sensing device includes a microstructure, for example, a cantilevered beam, and at least one set of contacts configured for contact-mode operation with the microstructure in response to the microstructure deflecting toward or away from the contacts when exposed to the parameter of interest. The microstructure has a stack of layers of dissimilar materials, at least one of which has at least one property that changes as a result of curing of or absorption by the first material when exposed to the parameter.
SWITCH DEVICE AND PROTECTIVE DEVICE
A switch device capable of safely opening or short-circuiting an electrical circuit in response to an abnormality such as wetting with water or liquid leaking from a battery is provided. The device includes a conductor connected to an external circuit, and a reaction part including a liquid-soluble material which opens the conductor and the external circuit and which dissolves on contacting a liquid entering the device interior to electrically connect the conductor and the external circuit.
SWITCH DEVICE, ELECTRONIC COMPONENT, AND BATTERY SYSTEM
A switch device capable of safely opening an electrical circuit in response to an abnormality such as wetting with water or liquid leaking from a battery. The device includes a first conductor connected to an external circuit and having a relatively high ionization tendency, and a second conductor arranged close to the first conductor and having a relatively low ionization tendency which is lower than that of the first conductor, a reaction part which electrically corrodes the first conductor is formed by a liquid between the first and second conductors.

A switch device capable of safely opening or short-circuiting an electrical circuit in response to an abnormality such as wetting with water or liquid leaking from a battery is provided. The device includes first and second conductors connected to an external circuit, and a reaction part including an insulating material which changes state on contact with a liquid, the first and second conductors being electrically connected or disconnected by the insulating material changing state on contact with the liquid.
ELECTROSTATICALLY ACTUATED TORSIONAL RESONANT SENSORS AND SWITCHES
Embodiments in accordance of a torsional resonant sensor disclosure is configured to actuate a beam structure using electrostatic actuation with an AC harmonic load (e.g., AC and DC voltage sources) that is activated upon detecting a particular agent having a mass above a predefined level. In various embodiments, the beam structure may be different types of resonant structures that is at least partially coated or layered with a selective material.

PAPER HYGROSENSOR AND METHOD OF FABRICATION
Specific modifications of one or more portions of a paper structure inhibits reaction by those portions to an external environmental stimulus, such as humidity. Exposure of the modified paper structure to the external environmental stimulus provides a mechanical response in the paper that provides a sensing, switching, and/or motor function.
