A localized device or system is attached to the transportable container and is coupled to an electrical power source. A reed switch apparatus coupled to the transportable container communicates the position of the opening member to the localized device or system. The localized device or system provides a localized function depending on the reported position of the opening member. The localized function includes at least one of a group consisting of a local lighting function, local locking mechanism action and local refrigeration system action/function. The localized device or system communicates the position of the opening member to a remote device or system at a location remote from the transportable container. The remote device or system is capable of providing remote monitoring and control functions or actions at the transportable container depending on the communicated position of the opening member.

A portable lamp for affixing with an object, such as a remote control, includes a base that has a raised pivot pin. An enclosure has a pivot pin receiving recess adapted for receiving the pivot pin of the base pivotally therein. The enclosure includes an opening on a lower side thereof and a circuit board that includes a lighting circuit having a plurality of LEDs aligned with the opening of the lower side of the enclosure, a battery, and a magnetic switch disposed within the enclosure adjacent to at least one magnet of the base when the base and the enclosure are mutually aligned. In use, with the base affixed with the object and with the base aligned with the enclosure, the lighting circuit maintains the LEDs in an off state. With the enclosure manually pivoted away from the base the lighting circuit illuminates the LEDs.

MEMS DUAL SUBSTRATE SWITCH WITH MAGNETIC ACTUATION

Systems and methods for forming a magnetostatic MEMS switch include forming a movable beam on a first substrate, forming the electrical contacts on a second substrate, and coupling the two substrates using a hermetic seal. A shunt bar on the movable plate may close the switch when lowered onto the contacts. The switch may generally be closed, with the shunt bar resting on the contacts. However, a magnetically permeable material may also be inlaid into the movable plate. The switch may then be opened by placing either a permanent magnet or an electromagnet in proximity to the switch.

Electrical floor box with light source assembly

An electrical floor box includes a body having an open top and defining an interior therewithin, a cover flange configured to be mounted on the open top of the body, a cover assembly connected to the cover flange such that it is repositionable between open and closed positions, and a light source assembly arranged within the electrical floor box. The light source assembly includes a magnet attached to a bottom surface of the cover assembly, a magnet reed switch installed on the cover flange, a LED light electrically connected to the magnetic reed switch, and a wiring tunnel configured to hold the LED light therewithin. When the cover assembly is in the open position, the magnet disengages with the magnet reed switch such that the LED light illuminates the interior of the electrical floor box.

An acceleration sensor element 10a includes an upper substrate 20, a lower substrate 21 spaced apart from the upper substrate 20, and an intermediate substrate 19 provided between the upper substrate 20 and the lower substrate 21. Each of a first movable portion 16, a second movable portion 17, a frame portion 12, a fixed portion 13, and a spring portion 14 constituting the intermediate substrate 19 is configured with two layers of an upper layer and a lower layer, and a stopper portion 18 is provided at one end of the frame portion 12. A distance 31 between an end portion of the first movable portion 16 or the second movable portion 17 and an end portion of the stopper portion 18 in the upper layer and a distance 32 between an end portion of the first movable portion 16 or the second movable portion 17 and an end portion of the stopper portion 18 in the lower layer are different from each other.

A magnet reed switch assembly. The magnetic reed switch assembly includes a reed switch having a body and a pair of electrical contacts disposed in the body. A ring magnet has a bore, and a portion of the body of the reed switch is disposed within the bore, with the ring magnet positioned close to the pair of electrical contacts. The ring magnet is movable along the axis of the body between a first position and a second position. A plunger includes a proximal end coupled to the ring magnet and a distal end having a sensing magnet. When a ferrous target is disposed near the sensing magnet, the plunger moves toward the ferrous target causing the ring magnet to move from the first position to the second position, and the reed switch to move from an open state to a closed state.
