A key structure having a pressing area is provided. The key structure includes a first membrane and a second membrane. A first conductive layer and a first insulation layer are sequentially disposed on a surface of the first membrane. The first insulation layer has a first opening in the pressing area, so that a part of the first conductive layer is exposed from the first opening. The second membrane is disposed opposite to the first membrane. A second conductive layer and a second insulation layer are sequentially disposed on a surface of the second membrane facing the first membrane. The second insulation layer has a second opening, which is formed corresponding to the first opening, in the pressing area, so that a part of the second conductive layer is exposed from the second opening to face the first conductive layer in the first opening.

Backlit illumination of electronics

A backlit device includes an outer layer, an adhesive layer, and a light guide configured to transmit light from a light source. The adhesive layer is positioned between the outer layer and the light guide. The outer layer includes a plurality of outer layer segments and at least one opening positioned between the outer layer segments where light from the light guide can pass through and provide backlighting. The adhesive layer includes a plurality of adhesive material segments. Each adhesive material segment is individually positioned between an outer layer segment and the light guide such that the perimeter of an outer layer segment surrounds the perimeter of the respective adhesive material segment. Through this arrangement, the adhesive material segments do not divert or block light passing through the opening in the outer layer.

A key device includes a bottom plate, a light guiding membrane switch, and a keycap. The light guiding membrane switch is disposed on the bottom plate and includes a lower membrane layer, an upper membrane layer, a light guiding spacing layer, a reflective layer, and an adhering layer. The upper membrane layer is disposed above the lower membrane layer and farther from the bottom plate than the lower membrane layer. The light guiding spacing layer is disposed between the lower membrane layer and the upper membrane layer and includes opposite upper and lower surfaces. The reflective layer is securely fastened on the upper surface. The adhering layer is adhered between the reflective layer and the upper membrane layer, and a position and a shape of the adhering layer correspond to a position and a shape of the reflective layer.

NOVEL CONDUCTING STRUCTURE AND CONDUCTING METHOD FOR UPPER SHEET AND LOWER SHEET OF FILM BUTTON CIRCUIT

A novel conducting structure and conducting method for an upper sheet and a lower sheet of a film button circuit. A first upper sheet conducting layer and a second upper sheet conducting layer are coated in sequence on an upper sheet conducting contact point. A first lower sheet conducting layer and a second lower sheet conducting layer are coated in sequence on a lower sheet conducting contact point. The first upper sheet conducting layer, the second upper sheet conducting layer, the second lower sheet conducting layer and the first lower sheet conducting layer are overlapped in sequence, thereby forming a composite conducting layer that is slightly greater than a back glue layer in thickness. The present invention can simplify assembly processes and can improve the production efficiency.

Classifying the intent of user input

Different types of user inputs can be input by a user via a keyboard of an input device. These different types of user inputs include, for example, key strikes, multi-touch interactions, single finger motions, and/or mouse clicks. Touch information regarding the pressure applied to the keys of a pressure sensitive keyboard over time (or the contact area of the user input for other types of keyboards over time) is used to classify the intent of the user input as one of the various types of user inputs.
