POWER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR A STANDBY GENERATOR
A power management system for selectively providing power to one or more electrical loads using a standby generator includes a meter mounted transfer switch, a power management module, and a controller. The meter mounted transfer switch is configured to receive electrical power from a utility source. The power management module is configured to receive electrical power from each of the standby generator and the utility source. The controller is in communication with the standby generator and the power management module, and monitors a load on the standby generator and communicates to the power management module to selectively disconnect at least one of the one or more electrical loads based on the monitored load.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SHARED HYBRID TRANSFER SWITCH SYSTEM WITH INTEGRATED RELAY SELF TEST
The present disclosure relates to a shared transfer switching system with built in relay testing ability, for transferring power received by a load from a preferred AC power source to an alternate AC power source, or transferring power being received by the load from the alternate AC power source to the preferred AC power source. The system selectively controls various ones of the relays used to apply power from either the preferred or alternate power sources to the load, such that the relays are switched from open to closed states at controlled times, while voltage measurements are made at select locations between the relays. The system can identify which specific ones of a plurality of relays associated with each of the preferred and alternate power sources has properly opened and closed, and thus verify that all of the relays needed to switch between the preferred and alternate power sources are operating properly.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETECTION OF LINE TO NEUTRAL BACK-FEED VOLTAGE
An electric utility distribution system in which power is supplied by a distribution transformer through an electric utility meter including an apparatus for detecting the presence of a back-feed voltage source connected to the load. The apparatus includes a virtual neutral established in the electric utility meter at ground potential and a remote switch that is opened to interrupt electric power flow from the distribution transformer to the load. The apparatus further includes a balanced voltage divider circuit including a connection point established between a pair of series connected resistive elements. In addition, the apparatus includes a detection circuit configured to monitor a voltage signal at the connection point to detect a back-feed voltage source connected between a neutral conductor of the electric utility distribution system and one of a first or second power line at the load.
CHANGEOVER SWITCH
A changeover switch for medium voltage switchgear is provided. The changeover switch includes a first terminal body, a second terminal body, and two elongate pole bodies. The two elongate pole bodies are arranged parallel to each other and rotatably arranged with first ends on opposite sides of, and in direct contact with the first terminal body around a rotation axis. The two elongate pole bodies are rotatable between an open position and a closed position. The second ends of the two elongate pole bodies are positioned in direct contact with opposite sides of the second terminal body. The changeover switch further includes one or more springs arranged between the two elongate pole bodies to urge the two elongate pole bodies towards each other.
FOUR WAY AUTOMATIC TRANSFER SWITCH
A system includes a first group of cassettes, each cassette including a first stationary bar, a first plurality of fixed contact members, and a first plurality of movable contact members, each of which is electrically coupled and rotatably connected to the first stationary bar and configured to contact one of the first plurality of fixed contact members. The system includes a second group of cassettes each including a second stationary bar, a second plurality of fixed contact members, and a second plurality of movable contact members, each of which is electrically coupled and rotatably connected to the second stationary bar and configured to contact one of the second plurality of fixed contact members. The system includes at least one operating mechanism to control opening and closing of the movable contact members. The first stationary bar is coupled to the second stationary bar.
Proactive engine start (PES)
A method and system are provided for controlling transfer switch operations in a power distribution system. The method and system involve monitoring an electrical parameter of an electrical signal from a first power source associated with supplying power to a load; determining whether the electrical parameter satisfies a parameter threshold; selecting to increment or decrement a count value in accordance with the determination; and responsive to determining that the count value satisfies a first count threshold, initiating a start signal to start operation of a second power source to supply power to the load. The electrical parameter can be voltage or frequency, or other parameter(s) from which a power quality of the electrical signal may be evaluated. The electrical signal can be a single or polyphase electrical signal.
Switching apparatus
Implementations of the subject matter described herein provide a switching apparatus. The switching apparatus includes: a switching component including a first main shaft, which is adapted to selectively connect and disconnect at least one circuit in response to the rotation of the first main shaft; and an operating mechanism including a second main shaft for actuating the first main shaft to rotate via the second main shaft; wherein the switching component further includes a first interface, and the operating mechanism further includes a second interface, and the second main shaft to be detachably coupled to the first main shaft in response to the engagement of the first interface and the second interface.
POWER DISCONNECT SYSTEM AND METHOD
The systems and methods herein described isolating a circuit breaker panel for a building from a grid circuit during an event disrupting the grid circuit. In one aspect, a interrupt switch system comprises a housing configured to mate with an electric meter socket on a first side and an electric meter on a second side, the housing comprising power inputs from grid power and power outputs to a circuit breaker panel and an interrupt circuit disposed within the housing and configured to interrupt a flow of electricity from the power inputs to the power outputs.
“SAVUS” a simple, low cost emergency home power connection
The embodiments of a “SAVUS” disclosed herein are simple, safe, low cost devices used to connect emergency power to an entire home. The embodiments of SAVUS are configured to install into most residential types of circuit breaker front panels and require only one available circuit breaker space for installation. SAVUS mechanically interlocks with the main circuit breaker and will not allow connection of an external power source to the circuit breaker box until utility power is turned off for safety.
