Method of evaluating lymphatic system function
An embodiment relates to a method of evaluating a lymphatic system function including: selecting one or a plurality of lymphatic routes to be evaluated from a plurality of lymphatic routes existing in four limbs; determining an injection site of a visualization agent based on information on the selected lymphatic route and injection sites of peripheries of the four limbs corresponding to the selected lymphatic route; injecting the visualization agent from the selected injection site; and visualizing the injected visualization agent and evaluating functions of the one or plurality of lymphatic routes to be evaluated.
Method for preparing contrast agent iomeprol
The present invention relates to a method for preparing an X-ray contrast agent iomeprol and, more specifically, to a method for preparing iomeprol by adding an inorganic base, an inorganic chloride, a solvent, etc. to 5-(2-hydroxyacetamido)-N,N′-bis(2,3-dihydroxypropyl)-2,4,6-triiodoisophthalamide (1b) to cause N-methylation reaction, thereby enabling easy separation and removal of inorganic salts generated during the reaction, without treatment with an ion exchange resin, while reducing the conventional production time, and minimization of the amount of reaction impurities.
ALGINIC ACID-BASED INJECTABLE HYDROGEL SYSTEM
The present invention provides an alginic acid-based injectable hydrogel system for labeling an accurate position of a disease lesion and effectively delivering a drug to a target region. The formulation of the present invention can make it easy to locally inject a contrast agent and a drug into a target region while controlling the release rate of the contrast agent or the drug, with the formation of the hydrogel in the injected region. Through the advantages, the labeled position can be accurately determined from images, thereby enhancing the precision of surgical operation, with a minimal incision formed therefor. In addition, when used, the alginic acid-based injectable hydrogel system allows the effective local delivery of a drug to a target region while increasing the long-acting effect of the drug.
VASCULAR EMBOLIC SYSTEM
Systems and methods of blocking a biological vessel 2 are provided. The systems and methods may comprise introducing to the vessel an amphiphilic peptide. The peptide may comprise at least thirteen amino acids that may alternate between a hydrophobic amino acid and a hydrophilic amino acid. The peptide may form a beta- sheet spontaneously in an aqueous solution in the presence of a cation.
Activity based probe and uses thereof for imaging
Provided is a compound including at least one carrier moiety associated with a plurality of CT imaging moieties, and with at least one enzyme interacting moiety as well as uses thereof in diagnosis.
CT CONTRAST AGENT FOR DETECTION OF CACHEXIA
The invention relates to an iodinated CT contrast agent for non-invasive diagnosis of cachexia. This is possible by superior resolution of CT combined with CT contrast agent specific for the brown and/or beige adipose tissue (BAT).
CHEMICAL ABLATION FORMULATIONS AND METHODS OF TREATMENTS FOR VARIOUS DISEASES
Embodiments of the present invention are directed to the treatment of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, heart failure, end-stage renal disease, digestive disease, urological disease, cancers, tumors, pains, asthma, pulmonary arterial hypertension, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease by delivering of an effective amount of formulations at desired temperature to target tissue. The formulations include gases, vapors, liquids, solutions, emulsions and suspensions of one or more ingredients. The temperature may enhance safety and efficacy of the formulations for the treatments. The amounts of the formulation and/or energy are effective to injury or damage the tissues to have a benefit of symptom relive.
Development of injectable fiducial markers for image guided radiotherapy with dual MRI and CT visibility
Radiation therapy or radiotherapy (RT) is a powerful treatment where precision and accuracy is crucial. Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT) facilitates more accurate position verification, correcting for anatomic changes related to internal organ movement. IGRT thereby helps reduce toxicity of radiotherapy and increases relapse-free survival. An inter-correlation point with a fixed position and volume (a marker) can be applied to indicate the point of treatment clearly in both imaging modalities and to localize and track tumors in real time. In this study, we present the development of a marker based on lactose octaacetate:octapropionate 1:1 containing 3 mM PLA-DTPA(Gd), 40% triglyceride, 5% propylene carbonate and 10% XSAIB (sucrose based CT-contrast agent). The injectable marker had high CT contrast (>1000 HU) and displayed clearly visible, stable T.sub.1 contrast enhancement (T.sub.1˜900 ms) in the rim over at least 3 weeks with clinically observable resolution.
Intrathecal delivery of recombinant adeno-associated virus 9
The present invention relates to Adeno-associated virus type 9 methods and materials useful for intrathecal delivery of polynucleotides. Use of the methods and materials is indicated, for example, for treatment of lower motor neuron diseases such as SMA and ALS as well as Pompe disease and lysosomal storage disorders. It is disclosed that administration of a non-ionic, low-os-molar contrast agent, together with a rAA9 vector for the expression of Survival Motor Neuron protein, improves the survival of SMN mutant mice as compared to the administration of the expression vector alone.
Indicator Fluids, Systems, and Methods for Assessing Movement of Substances Within, To or From a Cerebrospinal Fluid, Brain or Spinal Cord Compartment of a Cranio-Spinal Cavity of a Human
The present invention discloses indicator fluids, reference indicator fluid, and usage thereof, and systems and methods for assessing movement of molecular substances within, to or from a cerebrospinal fluid, brain or spinal cord compartment of a human cranio-spinal cavity. Indicator fluid moving from the cerebrospinal fluid compartment enables measurements of levels of indicator fluid in blood or urine and assessment of the cranio-spinal cavity's ability to remove molecular substances. The indicator fluids may be contrast agents used for imaging, such as by computed tomography imaging, and magnetic resonance imaging, or imaging utilizing radioactive substances by positron emission tomography, single-photon emission computed tomography or scintigraphy. Using these imaging modalities, the invention describes indicator fluids, systems and methods enabling assessment of movement of substances within, to or from a cerebrospinal fluid, brain or spinal cord compartment of a cranio-spinal cavity, and from the human cranio-spinal cavity to lymphatic pathways or kidneys.
