ESA QUADRANT MECHANICAL RECONFIGURATION

A system and method for ESA quadrant mechanical reconfiguration functions to shift some of the complexity from algorithmic manipulation of received radar data to mechanical transformation of a simple panel structure to achieve desired performance in a desired ESA boresight. The system receives a rotation trigger based on an external event such as altitude and mission and causes two or more simple ESA panels to rotate from a first azimuthal position to a second common azimuthal position without stopping at an intermediate azimuth. Once positioned, each individual rotational ESA panel is combined to function as a single aggregate ESA enabling desired performance in field of view, resolution, and range along a common boresight.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DRIVING POLARIZATION SHIFTING TO MITIGATE INTERFERENCE

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a motorized drive assembly that includes a motor and a drive assembly, where the drive assembly has an axle configured to be disposed through a rotatable substrate of a polarization shifter for a dual-polarized radiating element, the axle being further configured to fasten, at a first end of the axle, to a support structure of the polarization shifter, wherein, when the motorized drive assembly is assembled to the polarization shifter, the motor is controllable to impart rotational forces, via movement of the axle, to the polarization shifter to effect polarization adjusting for the dual-polarized radiating element. Other embodiments are disclosed.

COMMUNICATION DEVICE FOR ANTENNA ADJUSTMENT

A communication device includes a nonconductive track, an antenna element, a first turning wheel, and a second turning wheel. The antenna element is disposed on the nonconductive track. The first turning wheel and the second turning wheel drive the nonconductive track according to a control signal, so as to adjust the position of the antenna element. The communication device provides an almost omnidirectional radiation pattern.

Wireless network controller and method of controlling a wireless network

An antenna apparatus for use in a wireless network and method of operating such an antenna apparatus are provided. A wireless network controller provides a configuration of such an antenna apparatus, a method of operating such a wireless network controller, and a resulting wireless network. The antenna apparatus comprises a directional antenna and a uniform circular antenna array. The directional antenna can be rotatably positioned about an axis with respect to a fixed mounting portion of the apparatus in dependence on wireless signals received by the antenna array. The antenna array allows the antenna apparatus to receive wireless signals isotropically and thus to accurately monitor the wireless signal environment in which it finds itself. The antenna apparatus can thus monitor and characterise incoming signals, both from external interference sources and from other network nodes, and the directional antenna can then be positioned in rotation to improve the network throughput.
