Integrated fan out antenna and method of forming the same
An integrated fan out (InFO) antenna includes a reflector on a surface of a substrate; and a package. The package includes a redistribution layer (RDL) arranged to form an antenna ground, and a patch antenna over the RDL, wherein the RDL is between the patch antenna and the reflector. The InFO antenna further includes a plurality of connecting elements bonding the package to the reflector. Each connecting element of the plurality of connecting elements is located inside an outer perimeter of the reflector. The InFO antenna is configured to output a signal having a wavelength.
Shorted bowtie patch antenna with parasitic shorted patches
Described herein are shorted bowtie patch antennas. The shorted bowtie patch antenna includes parasitic shorted patches. Signals are received by the shorted bowtie patch antenna. The received signals are propagated to a receiver. Signals sent from a transmitter are transmitted by the shorted bowtie patch antenna. Current is induced in the parasitic shorted patches during receiving and transmitting of signals.
Protective cover for a wireless device
In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a protective cover configured to attach to a wireless device having an exterior surface. The surface includes a first portion and a second portion mutually exclusive from the first portion. The second portion of the surface is associated with at least a portion of an antenna of the wireless device that performs proximity sensing for the wireless device. The protective cover is configured to cover the first portion of the surface when the protective cover is attached to the wireless device. The protective cover is configured to not cover the second portion of the surface when the protective cover is attached to the wireless device. As a result, the proximity sensing and/or the power transmitted by the antenna are not affected by the protective cover when the protective cover is attached to the wireless device and when the wireless device is operational.
RADAR ANTENNA AND SUITABLE METHOD FOR INFLUENCING THE RADIATION CHARACTERISTICS OF A RADAR ANTENNA
A radar antenna includes parasitic elements for influencing the radiation characteristics of the radar antenna, the radiation characteristics of the radar antenna being dependent upon the spatial position of the parasitic elements relative to the radar antenna and phase positions (φ1, φ2, φ3) of energies radiated off the radar antenna and the parasitic elements. The radar antenna is designed using microstrip technology.
Reconfigurable antenna system
The invention relates to a reconfigurable antenna system (1), which comprises a plurality of antenna units (10) and does not employ phase shifters. Each antenna unit (10) is by itself a reconfigurable antenna having at least an active radiating element which is coupled to one or more passive radiating elements. Each antenna unit is provided with one or more variable loads (12) that can be electrically connected/disconnected to each other and with said antenna unit (10), to selectively configure the radiating properties of the system. A bias network (70) is adopted to bias the variable loads (12) and a control unit (80) allows controlling the operation of said bias network (70). Each active radiating element is fed by at least a feeding line (501) that provides it with a suitable polarization. Hence, the system can advantageously resort to multiple polarizations, each of them being provided by a same source. Preferably, each active radiating element receive its feeding signal from the source/s by means of power dividers (60) and/or switches. Preferably, each antenna unit is covered by at least a radiating structure, comprising a plurality of passive radiating elements, which does not affect the reconfigurability of the antenna unit itself and increases the overall antenna gain. The antenna system is then characterized by remarkable beam-steering capabilities and high gain, avoiding the losses and complexities related to phase shifters and overcoming the typically small antenna gain values of current reconfigurable antenna systems.
DUAL-BAND ANTENNA ARRAY WITH BOTH FAN BEAM AND PENCIL BEAM
The present disclosure relates to a dual-band antenna array with fan beam and pencil beam. The antenna comprises a substrate and an antenna array arranged on the surface of the substrate, a first antenna element and a second antenna element are cascaded in an x-axis direction by a filter phase-shift line so as to form a subarray. A pair of T-shaped monopoles are symmetrically placed along the x axis at a certain distance above and below each of the first and second antenna elements, respectively, and a rectangular slot is embedded in the upper edge of the second antenna element to achieve good impedance matching. The second antenna element generates a fan beam at one frequency point or frequency band to have the performance of a wide beam, and generates a pencil beam at another frequency point or frequency band to have the performance of a narrow beam.
Microstrip antenna assembly having a detuning resistant and electrically small ground plane
An antenna assembly is disclosed including a ground plane having a first longitudinal edge and a second longitudinal edge. The first and second longitudinal edges may extend in a longitudinal direction and may be spaced apart in a lateral direction that is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. The ground plane may define a first plurality of slots that are open to the first longitudinal edge and a second plurality of slots that are open to the second longitudinal edge. The antenna assembly may also include a patch antenna spaced apart from the ground plane and arranged in parallel with the ground plane. The patch antenna may have a pair of opposite edges and may define a first plurality of slots that are open to one of the pair of opposite edges of the patch antenna. In some embodiments, the antenna assembly may include one or more parasitic elements that also define a plurality of slots.
Inter-dwelling signal management using reconfigurable antennas
A communication system utilizing reconfigurable antenna systems is described where beam steering and null forming techniques are incorporated to limit the region or volume available for communication with client devices. The communication system described restricts communication to defined or desired area and degrades signal strength coverage outside of a prescribed region. An algorithm is used to control the antenna system to monitor and control antenna system performance across the service area. This antenna system technique is applicable for use in communication systems such as a Local Area Network (LAN), cellular communication network, and Machine to Machine (M2M).
DUAL-POLARIZED FILTERING ANTENNA WITH HIGH SELECTIVITY AND LOW CROSS POLARIZATION
A dual-polarized filtering antenna comprising a driven patch, a parasitic stacked patch and a feeding network is disclosed. Two orthogonal H-shaped feeding lines are coupled to the driven patch for realizing dual polarization. The H-shaped feeding line provides a sharp roll-off rate at the lower band-edge, whereas the stacked patch offers a radiation null at the upper stopband. As a result, a quasi-elliptic bandpass response can be achieved for both polarizations.
