Antennas Having Symmetrical Switching Architecture
An electronic device may include wireless circuitry with antennas. An antenna resonating element arm for an antenna may be formed from conductive housing structures running along the edges of the device. The antenna may have first and second antenna feeds and multiple adjustable components that bridge a slot between the antenna resonating element and an antenna ground. Control circuitry may control the adjustable components and selectively activate one of the first and second feeds at a given time to place the antenna in first, second, or third operating modes. The control circuitry may determine which operating mode to use based on information indicative of the operating environment of the device. By switching between the operating modes, the control circuitry may shift current hot spots across the length of the resonating element arm to ensure satisfactory performance of the antenna in a variety of operating conditions.
Dual-polarized antenna and related antenna module and electronic device
An antenna includes a ground layer, two polarization signal feeding terminals disposed on the ground layer, two polarization structures, four coupling metals and four radiating metals. The first polarization structure includes a first extending portion electrically connected to the first polarization signal feeding terminal and extends from a first channel to a second channel in a first direction over the ground layer. The second polarization structure includes a second extending portion electrically connected to the second polarization signal feeding terminal and extends from a third channel to a fourth channel in second direction over the ground layer, wherein the first extending portion crosses the second extending portion in a non-contact manner to define four regions. The four coupling metals are disposed on the first through the fourth regions, respectively. The four radiating metals are disposed on the first through the fourth channels, respectively.
Waveguide device with septum features
Methods, systems, and devices are described that include one or more septum features to improve performance of a waveguide device. In particular, the septum features may be utilized within a polarizer section of a polarizer device such as a septum polarizers. The septum feature(s) may be a ridge. When a plurality of septum features are employed, the location, size, shape and spacing may vary according to a particular design.
Antenna for wireless communication
There is provided an antenna that includes (a) an element that emits radiation in a direction, and (b) a structure made of an electrically conductive material. The structure includes (i) a surface situated to a side of the element that is in other than the direction, and (ii) a first wall and a second wall that are situated generally perpendicular to the surface and situated with respect to one another so as to form a trough therebetween.
ANTENNA RADOMES FORMING A CUT-OFF PATTERN
An antenna system includes a circularly-polarized antenna element with a Down/Up ratio in a proximity of a local horizon of no better than 12 dB. An antenna radome encloses the antenna element, the radome providing a drop of antenna pattern near a local horizon and having an upper transparent area and a lower semi-transparent area. The semi-transparent area is has a generally hemispherical shape. The semi-transparent area includes a circular metallized portion with vertical and horizontal slots, the metallized portion extending part of the way downward from an equator of the generally hemispherical shape. The metallized portion includes passive discrete electrical elements connected across at least some of the slots. The metallized portion can include multiple areas having different degrees of transparence. Each such area has a specified impedance. The discrete elements are capacitors, inductors and/or resistors. The metallized portion can have a plurality of circular rows separated by the horizontal slots.
ANTENNA APPARATUS
An antenna apparatus includes: an antenna array that: i) includes a plurality of antennas arranged next to each other in a predetermined direction, ii) is supplied with power from a power source, and iii) transmits radio waves; and a plurality of dummy antennas that: i) are provided on opposite sides of the antenna array in the predetermined direction, ii) are supplied with power from an electric field leaked from the antennas of the antenna array, and iii) transmit radio waves. Thus, it is possible to prevent an accuracy of detecting a target from deteriorating.
Container including RFID module
A container including an RFID module is provided that includes a base, a metal film, and a slit. The base has an insulating property. The metal film is on a first main surface of the base. The slit separates the metal film into a first metal region and a second metal region. The RFID module includes an RFIC element, a filter circuit configured to transmit a current due to an electromagnetic wave at a natural resonance frequency being a communication frequency to the RFIC element, and first and second electrodes to be connected to the filter circuit. The first electrode of the RFID module and the first metal region of the metal film are electrically connected to each other. The second electrode of the RFID module and the second metal region of the metal film are electrically connected to each other.
