Provided is a power pack comprising an AC power connector configured to be connectable to an outside AC power source; a rectification and filtering unit configured to be in electronic communication with the AC power connector; a controlling unit; and a medical device connector configured to be connectable to a medical device, the medical device connector configured to be in electronic communication with the controlling unit, wherein the power pack is configured to be capable of detecting a connection of the medical device with the power pack and also capable of demonstrating the connection through an outside indicator disposed on the exterior of the power pack once the medical device is connected to the power pack through the medical device connector.

Defibrillators, defibrillator architectures, defibrillator interface units and methods of operating defibrillators are described. In one aspect, a modular defibrillator architecture is described. A base unit provides a fully functional defibrillator. The functionality of the base unit can be supplemented by attaching an interface unit to the base unit. The defibrillator interface unit includes a housing, a communications module, a processing unit and a power storage unit. The housing is configured to be mounted on the base defibrillator unit to form at least a part of a unitary portable modular AED system. The communications module facilitates wireless communication between the AED and one or more remote servers. The processing unit includes at least one processor and is configured to receive communications from the base defibrillator unit. The power storage unit powers the interface unit including the communications module and the processing unit.

The light is holdable by a hand in several ways wherein a finger or thumb is proximate an actuator. A battery assembly comprises: a battery housing for receiving and connecting a battery; an electrical switch on a first end of the battery housing; and a pattern of electrical contacts on a second end of the battery housing, wherein ones of the electrical contacts are connected to the battery.
