An electrical power and/or electronic data unit with voice communications capability includes a housing, a voice communications module, and an electrical power outlet coupled to the housing. The voice communications module is coupled to the housing and includes an audio speaker, a microphone, an audio signal receiver/processor, and an audio signal generator. The audio signal receiver/processor is configured to receive and process vocalized speech from a user. The voice communications module is configured to generate an audible response via the audio signal generator and the speaker, responsive to receiving and processing the vocalized speech from the user. The voice communications module is in electronic communication with a data source.

A decorative light string including a first group of light elements electrically connected in parallel to each other, a second plurality of light elements electrically connected in parallel to each other, and a third plurality of light elements electrically connected in parallel to each other. The first, second, and third groups of lights are electrically connected in series. A first wire stabilizer is located between the first group of lights and the second group of lights, and a second wire stabilizer is located between the second group of lights and the third group of lights. The first and second wire stabilizers secure wire ends forming first and second gaps in the wiring of the light string.

A decorative light string including a first group of light elements electrically connected in parallel to each other, a second plurality of light elements electrically connected in parallel to each other, and a third plurality of light elements electrically connected in parallel to each other. The first, second, and third groups of lights are electrically connected in series. A first wire stabilizer is located between the first group of lights and the second group of lights, and a second wire stabilizer is located between the second group of lights and the third group of lights. The first and second wire stabilizers secure wire ends forming first and second gaps in the wiring of the light string.

The light emitter assembly also includes a light housing disposed on the base body and housing the light emitter, and a power receptacle and/or a communication receptacle disposed on the light housing and electrically connected to the base electrical connector. The light housing is configured to allow passage of light therethrough.

A light emitter assembly includes a base body, a base electrical connector disposed on the base body, and a light emitter disposed on the base body and electrically connected to the base electrical connector. The light emitter assembly also includes a light housing disposed on the base body and housing the light emitter, and a power receptacle and/or a communication receptacle disposed on the light housing and electrically connected to the base electrical connector. The light housing is configured to allow passage of light therethrough.

A protection system and operating method thereof promotes the longevity of components of a control subsystem. The protection apparatus may include a first connector for connecting to the control system and a second connector for connecting to a target system. The protection apparatus detects states of a component of the control subsystem over time and causes a state transition of a switching circuit of the protection apparatus based on the detected states of the control subsystem. The state transition of the switching circuit of the protection system may be initiated after a defined period of time has elapsed after detecting states of the control subsystem component. The state transition of the switching circuit may be a transition between an open state in which power is not provided to a node of the second connector and a closed state in which power is provided to the node of the second connector.
