Inline cable connector assembly and methods

An inline cable connector assembly connects one or more twisted pairs of wire leads of a first cable to one or more twisted pairs of wire leads to a second cable. The assembly includes first and second terminal housing parts, first and second wiring caps, and double ended insulation displacement contacts within the connector assembly.

Solder-less and tool-less electrical system

An adjustable and reusable electrical assembly has an electrical unit, such as a plug unit or light unit, configured to engage with a cable. The electrical unit has a body that defines a channel connecting opposite pass-through openings. A first contact member and a second contact member are positioned with at least a portion in the body, each contact member having a piercing member. The cable is engageable with the plug unit extending through the channel with one piercing member in conductive contact with one wire and the other piercing member in conductive contact with the other wire. The cable can be disengaged from the plug unit and re-engaged at a different transverse position to change the length of the assembly.

Aspects and techniques of the present disclosure relate to a tool capable of terminating two different jack types (i.e. communication modules). That is, two different jack types can be arranged and configured to sit in the tool with a termination device. The tool can be a dual-purpose tool that has a configuration that allows a user to terminate different style jacks by adding termination device that becomes a lacing fixture.

Apparatus for terminating wires

A terminating apparatus for terminating a plurality of wires of a cable to a plurality of connection terminations of a communication module, the communication module comprises at least one upright walls each provided with at least one receiving slots for receiving the connection terminations each of which is electrically connected with one wire. The terminating apparatus comprises: at least one terminating portion into which the upright walls of the communication module are able to be inserted, each terminating portion separately holding the plurality of wires of the cable; and at least one cutting apparatus mounted in the terminating portions outside the receiving slot of the communication module and constructed to cut off parts of the wires which extend out the receiving slots after the wires are terminated to the connection terminations of the communication module. The wires may be easily and quickly terminated to the communication module. External protection layers of the wires are pierced and conductors of the wires are electrically connected to the communication module during terminating the wires. It does not need to peel off the external protection layers of the wires before terminating the wires.
