MACHINE, SYSTEM AND METHOD TO APPLY AT LEAST ONE CABLE TO A PIPELINE
A machine for applying at least one cable to a pipeline comprises: a frame extending along a longitudinal axis; a gripping and moving device mounted on the frame and configured to couple the machine around the pipeline and move the machine along the pipeline in a travel direction parallel to the longitudinal axis; and a cable application equipment comprising a rotating open ring structure, which is configured to rotate with respect to the frame and around the pipeline when the machine is gripping the pipeline; and an unwinding device for the controlled unwinding of a reel of cable; said unwinding device being mounted on said rotating open ring structure.
Subsea Umbilicals
A subsea control bundle umbilical comprises: a carrier pipe; a bundle of elongate functional elements being tubes and/or cables that extend longitudinally within the carrier pipe; and spacers spaced apart longitudinally along the bundle. The spacers support the functional elements of the bundle and are movable longitudinally relative to the carrier pipe upon insertion during assembly, and also during installation of the umbilical and in use. As the umbilical does not convey production hydrocarbons flowing from a subsea well, any tubes within the carrier pipe have an inner diameter of no more than 70mm. Any such tubes contain only a control fluid or a service fluid for supporting production of hydrocarbons. Each spacer comprises a stack of blocks and an opening that extends along a longitudinal axis through the spacer at an interface between abutting blocks of the stack. Each opening receives a respective elongate functional element of the umbilical.

Rejuvenation of subsea electrical cable insulation
Described is a cable rejuvenation apparatus for a cable used in a subsea environment. The apparatus applies a bias signal to a conducting element of the cable, the bias signal being selected to improve the insulation properties of the cable. The bias signal is generated by a bias signal generator that includes a voltage source that generates a bias voltage having a time varying component. The bias voltage promotes an electrochemical reaction between the conducting element and the salt containing liquid of the subsea environment resulting in the formation of a barrier material at the fault location restricting further leakage current flow and enhancing the insulation resistance of the cable. The bias signal is a voltage selected such that the electrochemical reaction promoted by the bias voltage maintains the presence of the barrier material at the fault location.
