An aircraft of the type disclosed here includes an aircraft fuselage, a wing assembly, a tail assembly, and a surface structure containing a lightning protection device. The surface structure is arranged on the aircraft fuselage, the wing assembly, and the tail assembly. The lightning protection device has a plurality of electrically conductive elements, which are arranged at least as a group of elements in the surface structure. The electrically conductive elements belonging to a group are arranged parallel to one another, at least in some section or sections, and have different spacings with respect to one another, at least in two regions.
Disconnector device and overvoltage protection assembly including the same
A disconnector device including an isolator connected between a first terminal and to a second terminal, and a sleeve positioned around the isolator and moveable between an un-extended position prior to the isolator operating and an extended position after the isolator operates, the sleeve being configured to trap debris produced by operation of the isolator.
LIGHTNING ROD WITH ELECTRIC DOUBLE LAYER AND ELECTRIC DIPOLE MOMENT TYPE DISCHARGE AMPLIFICATION FUNCTION
A lightning rod with an electric double layer and electric dipole moment type discharge amplification function, the lightning rod including: a support member (100) for moving a lightning current to the ground; an emission member (200) fitted to the support member (100) to collect charges of the ground according to the approach of a thundercloud and thus emit a large number of ions with the opposite polarity to the polarity of the thundercloud; ground charge chargers (300) fitted to the support member (100) and having spaces formed therein to charge the charges of the ground; an insulation member (400) disposed on top of the emission member (200); and discharge induction members (500) fixedly disposed on top and underside of the emission member (200) by means of the insulation member (400).
Lightning suppression-type wind power generation equipment
A wind power generation facility capable of realizing a lightning strike suppression effect while maintaining power generation efficiency by maintaining a blade shape that greatly affects power generation efficiency. An erected support column, a generator G provided at an upper portion of the support column, a hub H provided on a drive shaft that rotationally drives the generator, a plurality of blades radially provided to the hub about the drive shaft, charged bodies provided at tips of the blades, and a capacitor provided in an inner space of the hub are provided, and the capacitor includes a first electrode body that is grounded and a second electrode body that faces the first electrode body with an electrically insulating layer interposed therebetween and connected to the charged bodies.
Wind turbine lightning protection system
A wind turbine blade comprising a lightning protection system, which is at least partly disposed in an inboard portion of the blade. The lightning protection system comprises a down conductor cable having root and tip portions having insulation with different electrical breakdown voltages. The lightning protection system may comprise a down conductor cable portion and a supporting component to hold the cable portion in free space in a position near or on a camber line of the blade aerofoil section, so that the cable portion is spaced apart from at least one electrically conductive structural component; and/or a plurality of inboard down conductor cables and a diverging electrical junction.
Apparatus for isolating lighting or other direct current surge between radio antenna and communications equipment
The present apparatus, system and method solves the problems of the prior art by enabling substantial dissipation of an electrical energy surge coming from communications antenna which has been struck by lightning. The apparatus is for mounting to an exterior of a building at or near communications antenna also located at the exterior of the building. The apparatus is connected with incoming coaxial cables extending from exterior mounted antenna and with outgoing coaxial cables which extend from the apparatus to communications equipment housed within a communications center. The lighting strike surge travels from antenna, along the incoming coaxial cable and is redirected within the apparatus by polyphasers which trip at capacity to redirect the surge to three separate grounding bars and prevent the surge from continuing along outgoing coaxial cables leading to communications equipment thus safely dissipating surge and shielding communications equipment.
Electrical ground rod installation device
An installation device for installing an electrical ground rod into the earth. The electrical ground rod installation device of the present invention may comprise a shaft connecting an upper housing to a base. A user may utilize the installation device to install an electrical ground rod by first sliding the ground rod through the base and into the upper housing. In this arrangement, the base will be adjacent to approximately the middle of the ground rod and thus be at a height that can be engaged by the user from the ground, thereby avoiding the inherent risks associated with using ladders to install ground rods.
Lightning Protection System and Method for Wind Turbine Blades
A method of installing a lightning protection system can include forming a blade wall of a wind turbine to at least partly include a socket. A part of the socket can be removed, after forming the blade wall, to provide an opening through the blade wall. A receptor plug and a receptor element can be secured to the socket at the opening.
