Fault isolation

A system and method for fault location and isolation in an electrical power distribution network, where the network includes a plurality of switching devices provided along a feeder. The method includes detecting an overcurrent event in the network from the fault and interrupting the overcurrent event by opening and then immediately locking out or subsequently reclosing and testing the fault. A count value is increased in each switching device that detected the overcurrent event. A count and current (C&I) message is sent from each of the switching devices that detected the overcurrent event and then detected the loss of voltage upstream to an upstream neighbor switching device. Current measurements in the C&I messages, measured current by the devices and the counts values in the devices determine what devices are opened to isolate the fault.

Fuse clearing apparatus for medium-voltage substation applications

An apparatus includes at least one fuse clearing switch operable to create a fault on at least one AC line between a fuse and a transformer of a substation. The apparatus further includes a control system configured to be coupled to an arc detector and to operate the at least one fuse clearing switch responsive to a control signal produced by the arc detector.

A method for managing overcurrent protection in a self-controlled permanent-magnet synchronous motor of a motor vehicle is disclosed. The method makes it possible to adjust the activation threshold for overcurrent protection in the synchronous motor. In particular, the activation threshold is variable and depends, inter alia, on parameters representative of the temperature of the components of the synchronous motor.

POWER MANAGEMENT DEVICE AND MANAGEMENT METHOD THEREOF

A power management device and a management method thereof are provided. The power management device includes a switch, a detection circuit and a controller. The switch receives an external power. The detection circuit receives an internal power and at least one operation power. The detection circuit determines whether at least one of the internal power and the operation power is in a preset specification range or not to generate a protection activate signal. The controller sets a protection flag according to the protection activate signal, and generates a control signal according to the protection flag by executing an application program. The controller transmits the control signal to turn off the switch.

A surge protection system includes a receptacle body, at least one power output jack, a power obtaining device, at least one surge protection module, a microcontroller unit, and a surge detection circuit. The at least one surge protection module includes a housing, a memory element, and a surge protection circuit that includes a surge absorption element and a thermal fuse connected in series and parallel. The surge absorption element absorbs a surge inputted from an external power supply, and the memory element records a number of surges carried by the surge absorption element. When the surge enters the surge protection system from the external power supply, the surge absorption element absorbs the surge, and the surge detection circuit outputs a signal to the microcontroller unit that writes the number of surges carried by the surge absorption element into the memory element.
