Thermal monitoring of a converter

The thermal monitoring of a converter for an electric motor of a vehicle should be improved. Therefore, the invention relates to a method in which the temperature of the converter is measured. In addition, the output power of the converter is determined. The temperature of the converter is estimated using a thermal model of the converter having the output power as an input variable. The estimated temperature is compared with the measured temperature, and a corresponding monitoring signal is provided. Thus, a deviation of the measured temperature for the calculated temperature and thus a corresponding error in the cooling system can be detected even in the partial-load range.

Relay temperature measuring device and method

A relay temperature measuring device is provided. The device includes a sensor that measures an output of a battery and generates output measurement information and one or more relays that are disposed on a conductive line between the battery and a load. Additionally, a controller compares a relay temperature calculated using both-end measurement power information generated by measuring both ends of a conductor in a vehicle and the output measurement information with a preset temperature reference value, and connects or disconnects the relays based on a comparison result.

ELECTRIC-WIRE PROTECTION DEVICE

An electric-wire protection device includes a voltage adjustment unit that adjusts the voltage to a load, and a controller that includes a temperature calculation unit that calculates temperature information on an electric wire from a value of current, and makes the voltage adjustment unit into a shut-off state based on the temperature information. The temperature information is calculated from an amount of temperature changes based on the current value and a predetermined initial value. The controller shifts into a sleep state when a sleep condition is satisfied that includes a condition that the temperature information is lower than the initial value. The initial value when the controller returns from the sleep state is based on a convergence value of temperature in conducting energization on the electric wire at a maximum value of steady-state current.
