The circuit includes a bidirectional cell including a set of forward switches for power flow during a forward mode of operation and a set of reverse switches for providing reverse power flow during a reverse mode of operation, a control inductor for controlling current flow during the reverse mode of operation, and a voltage clamping switch configured to provide the control inductor in the circuit during the reverse mode of operation and remove the control inductor from the circuit during the forward mode of operation. The circuit is operated in at least the reverse mode of operation.

Either a glass transition temperature of the shock-absorbing material or a melting point of the shock-absorbing material is lower than a melting point of the conductor.

A control circuit is configured to supply a control signal to turn off the shunt element when a current value of the main current path of the shunt element exceeds a predetermined threshold value.

The delay circuit has a depletion mode MOSFET and an energy storage circuit. The depletion mode MOSFET is controlled as an active current sink to provide the coil voltage signal based on a DC voltage signal. The energy storage circuit has an input coupled to a drain of the depletion mode MOSFET, a capacitor, and an output coupled to the drain of the depletion mode MOSFET, the energy storage circuit charges the capacitor from the DC voltage signal and delivers current to the depletion mode MOSFET to delay discontinuation of the coil voltage signal responsive to a drop or discontinuation of the DC voltage signal.

CURRENT LIMITER, CORRESPONDING DEVICE AND METHOD

A power transistor supplying power to a load is coupled to a current limiter circuit including a differential amplifier that operates to detect a difference between a sense voltage, indicative of a load current, and a voltage reference. A control terminal of the power transistor is driven by a first output of the differential amplifier as a function of the detected difference. A voltage clamp circuit coupled to an input terminal generates a floating ground. A short-circuit protection circuit coupled to the floating ground and interposed between a second output of the differential amplifier and the control terminal of the power transistor provides a short-circuit protection for the first output of the differential amplifier. A reaction time circuit is coupled between the first and second outputs of the differential amplifier and a source terminal of the power transistor to limit a short-circuit current at the source terminal.
