METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING ENERGY DEVICE AND SYSTEM STATUS
A method and apparatus is described for providing energy system status information. A status indication device may be mounted near an entry door for determining when an individual is about to leave an area. When the status indication device determines that an individual is about to leave an area, it displays an energy status to the individual, so that the individual can decide whether to place energy-consuming devices in a conservation mode of operation.
Energy allocation system
Energy allocation system comprises a solar panel system and a local energy storage system, each capable of being plugged into a power socket of a home grid and each having a communication unit. The system further comprises a control unit, comprising a third communication unit, configured to receive the information relating to the solar panel system, and the information relating to the energy storage system via said communication units, and a processing unit. The processing unit is configured to determine, based on the received information, an allocation of energy in the home grid to the energy storage system, and to accordingly generate a control signal for the energy storage system. The third communication unit is further configured to transmit the generated control signal to the energy storage system.
System and method for monitoring power supply devices
A multiplicity of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) devices may be equipped with a plurality of sensors which report on the state of various operational parameters of the UPS devices to a registry device. Output of the registry device may be displayed on a dedicated GUI and/or written to log files at a monitoring station. In the event that one or more sensors reports a parameter to the registry device which is indicative of a malfunction of one or more of the UPS devices, examination the registry device output may indicate which UPS device or devices is/are malfunctioning. Related embodiments, apparatus, systems, and methods are also discussed.
Power distribution within a power source unit
Systems for power distribution within a power source unit are well suited for use in power source units that work with power distribution networks such as may be found associated with wireless communication systems or the like. More specifically, exemplary aspects provide a flexible power cable that extends from a powering supply to printed circuit boards (PCBs) on which output power ports are located. The PCBs may be arranged in a cascaded or daisy chain topology or in a star topology relative to the powering supply.
MICROGRID SYSTEM AND CONTROLLER
A microgrid controller includes a database in communication with a processor. The processor is operable to receive at least one microgrid input, to determine a first plurality of optimal power characteristic levels at a corresponding one of a plurality of first time intervals for a first time period, and to determine a second plurality of optimal power characteristic levels of a device determined at a corresponding one of a plurality of second time intervals for a second time period. The first time intervals are found at a first frequency different than a second frequency of the second time intervals. One of the second plurality of optimal power characteristic level corresponds to one of the first plurality of optimal power characteristic levels at each first time interval. The processor is configured to control a device optimal power characteristic level in response to the second plurality of optimal power characteristic levels.
CONNECTION LOCATOR IN A POWER AGGREGATION SYSTEM FOR DISTRIBUTED ELECTRIC RESOURCES
Systems and methods are described for a power aggregation system. In one implementation, a method includes charging an electric resource over a power connection to an electric network, obtaining a unique identifier of a device over the power connection, and determining an electric network location of the electric resource from the unique identifier.
INDOOR LOCATION SERVICES USING A DISTRIBUTED LIGHTING NETWORK
A method includes the steps of obtaining distance measurements between a device and a number of lighting fixtures, processing the distance measurements to assign coordinates to each one of the lighting fixtures, and facilitating registration of the coordinates of a subset of the lighting fixtures to obtain registered coordinates for all of the lighting fixtures. The coordinates indicate a relative location of each one of the lighting fixtures with respect to one another. The registered coordinates indicate a location of each lighting fixture in a desired coordinate space. Accordingly, a location of a lighting fixture within a desired coordinate space can be easily obtained, which may enable significant additional functionality of the lighting fixture.
MASTERLESS DISTRIBUTED POWER TRANSFER CONTROL
A method of power transfer control among a plurality of power sources coupled through a distribution system. The method comprises determining, at each power source of the plurality of power sources, an assignment of priorities for each of the plurality of power sources. The method also comprises obtaining, at each power source, information indicating an availability of each of the plurality of power sources and determining a set of available power sources, and identifying, at each power source, a preferred power source and a standby power source from the plurality of power sources. The method further comprises determining to change the preferred power source from a first power source to a second power source in response to detecting a condition, and conducting the power transfer.
Connection locator in a power aggregation system for distributed electric resources
Systems and methods for power aggregation are described. One method includes charging an electric resource or vehicle over a power connection to an electric network, obtaining, with a processor, a unique identifier of a device associated with the electric resource or vehicle at the power connection, and determining, with the processor, a location of the electric resource or vehicle from the unique identifier.
