LINEAR ELECTRIC DEVICE

An electric device has a driveshaft with at least one stator cylinder positioned between opposing, curvilinear shaped cams mounted on the driveshaft, where the center axis of the stator cylinder is parallel with but spaced apart from the driveshaft axis. A magnet assembly is disposed in each end of the stator cylinder, with one magnet assembly engaging one cam and the other magnet assembly engaging the other cam. Each magnet assembly includes a cam follower that can move along a curvilinear shaped cam. A magnet slide arm attached to the cam reciprocates magnets carried on the magnet slide arm through electromagnetic windings disposed around the stator cylinder. An electrical input delivered to the windings can reciprocate the arm, driving the cams to rotate the driveshaft. Alternatively, rotation of the driveshaft can be used to reciprocate the arm to induce electric current in the windings.

A liner is between the sliding tube and the joint surface of the inner cavity, an inner surface of the liner defining longitudinal contact surfaces separated by longitudinal grooves, the longitudinal contact surfaces contacting the sliding tube.

When moving the handle from the recessed position, the drive element moves the output element at a first speed to move the handle. When the motor is operated to further move the handle, the drive element moves the output element at a second speed to more rapidly move the handle from a partially deployed position toward a deployed position.

A first sensor signal and a second sensor signal are provided by a sensor unit to an evaluation unit. The first sensor signal is dependent on the angular position and is associated with a first detection position, and the second sensor signal is associated with a second detection position lying about the rotational axis perpendicular to the first detection position. An angular position of a rotational component is determined by the evaluation unit based on output from an atan2-function that takes the first and second sensor signals as input. A harmonic error is determined by the evaluation unit based on a periodic error signal that is superimposed on each of the sensor signals. An angular error of the angular position is determined by the evaluation unit based on the harmonic error. The angular position is updated by the evaluation unit based on the angular error.
