Cosmetic composition
A topically administrable composition comprises an aqueous suspension (e.g. a quick-drying aqueous solution), said aqueous suspension having disposed there within amphiphilic micro-particles having diameters in the range of 1-100 m, wherein said aqueous suspension comprises: A. hydrophobic nanoparticles of modified metal oxide and/or modified silicon oxide having diameters in the range of 1-150 nm; B. hydrophilic nanoparticles of metal oxide and/or silicon oxide having diameters in the range of 1-150 nm; and C. gas bubbles which are bounded by an internal layer of said hydrophobic nanoparticles and an external layer of said hydrophilic nanoparticles. In some embodiments, the gas-bubbles are air-bubbles.
COMPOSITIONS FOR KERATIN-CONTAINING FIBERS, COMPRISING AT LEAST ONE SPECIFIC UNCROSSLINKED ANIONIC POLYMER AND AT LEAST ONE FURTHER SPECIFIC UNCROSSLINKED CATIONIC POLYMER
Cosmetic compositions for temporarily deforming keratinic fibers, cosmetic products, and methods for temporarily deforming keratinic fibers are provided herein. In one embodiment, a cosmetic composition for temporarily deforming keratinic fibers includes at least one uncrosslinked anionic polymer, at least one uncrosslinked cationic polymer, and water in a total amount of from about 80 to about 98% by weight, in relation to the total weight of the cosmetic composition.
WATER-SOLUBLE SUPRAMOLECULAR COMPLEXES
Water-soluble supramolecular complexes formed from a water soluble block copolymer and at least one associative gelling adjuvant. The copolymer includes at least two blocks of polyethylene oxide and at least one block of polypropylene oxide. The adjuvant has a water solubility less than 0.5 g/100 ml at 20 C. When combined with water, the complexes form a transparent reversely thermo-reversible hydrogel or solution that may be repeatedly hydrated and dehydrated. The hydrogel exhibits improved gelling efficiency and enhanced solubility and/or stability for sparely soluble and insoluble pharmaceutical agents. The complexes are useful in a variety of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products and applications and may be combined with an effective amount of a cosmetic, medicament, or diagnostic in a solid dosage form.
Rheology Modifiers
Polysaccharide alkali swellable rheology modifiers include an emulsion polymer including at least one polysaccharide portion and at least one synthetic portion wherein the at least one synthetic portion is obtained from at least one anionic ethylenically unsaturated monomer, at least one nonionic ethylenically unsaturated monomer or a combination thereof, wherein at least one of the nonionic ethylenically unsaturated monomers is a hydrophobic ethylenically unsaturated monomer, as well as methods of making polysaccharide alkali swellable rheology modifiers.
Reversely thermo-reversible hydrogel compositions
A reversely thermo-reversible hydrogel composition comprising a water soluble block copolymer comprising at least two blocks of polyethylene oxide and at least one block of polypropylene oxide, and at least one associative gelling adjuvant having water solubility less than 0.5 g/100 ml, preferably less than 0.3 g/100 ml at 20 C., and being capable of forming water soluble inter-molecular complexes with the water soluble block copolymer in water. The hydrogel composition exhibits improved gelling efficiency, enhanced solubility and/or stability for water sparely soluble and insoluble pharmaceutical agents. The hydrogel compositions are useful in a variety of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products and applications, such as esophageal, otic, vaginal, rectal, ophthalmic, treatments of disorders and imperfections of the skin, and treating and/or preventing alopecia and restoring and/or promoting hair growth.
Composition containing a volatile linear alkane and a nonionic associative polymer, useful for conditioning the hair
The invention relates to compositions and their use for conditioning keratin fibers, in particular the hair. The composition contains in a cosmetically acceptable medium, one or more volatile linear alkanes, and one or more nonionic associative polymers.
RHEOLOGY MODIFIER POLYMER
The present invention relates to a method for making a direct emulsion of a copolymer in water, characterized in that it comprises the polymerization of at least, expressed as a percentage by weight of each of the monomers based upon the total weight of the monomers: a) 10 to 80% by weight of methacrylic acid and, optionally, of acrylic acid; b)15 to 80% by weight of at least one non-ionic vinyl monomer; c) 0.05 to 9.5% by weight of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid or a salt thereof; d) 0.5 to 30% by weight of at least one monomer containing at least one hydrophobic group; and e) 0.01 to 5% by weight of at least one crosslinking monomer; said polymerization being carried out in the presence of at least one surfactant. It also relates to the corresponding new copolymer emulsion in water, a method for thickening an aqueous composition comprising such an emulsion of copolymer and to an aqueous composition comprising such a copolymer emulsion.

Polysaccharide alkali swellable rheology modifiers include an emulsion polymer including at least one polysaccharide portion and at least one synthetic portion wherein the at least one synthetic portion is obtained from at least one anionic ethylenically unsaturated monomer, at least one nonionic ethylenically unsaturated monomer or a combination thereof; wherein at least one of the nonionic ethylenically unsaturated monomers is a hydrophobic ethylenically unsaturated monomer, as well as methods of making polysaccharide alkali swellable rheology modifiers.
Synthetic method for the preparation of rheological modifying polymers and the use thereof
The invention relates to a UV-initiated RAFT-type polymerization for producing hydrophobically associative terpolymers in an aqueous solution. The terpolymers produced by this method can be used as aqueous rheological modifiers. Specifically, the invention relates to a hydrophobically associating terpolymers and a method to produce same using a light initiated iniferter. The monomers used in the present invention are selected from: a monomer having a water-soluble monoethylenically unsaturated group; a monomer having an ionic water-soluble monoethylenically unsaturated group; and a monomer having a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer capable of forming hydrophobically associative bonds in aqueous medium. The iniferter is initiated with light of wavelength between 250-400 nm. The resultant terpolymer is produced in a cost-effective, simple, and one-step process and can be used to thicken aqueous mediums with less or equal amounts of polymer than currently available.
