An electromagnetic actuator for generating force is provided. The electromagnetic actuator includes a ferromagnetic body extending along a longitudinal axis, the ferromagnetic body comprising: a back-iron portion; and a pair of pole portions, extending from the back-iron portion, the back-iron portion connecting the pair of pole portions. The electromagnetic actuator further includes one or more magnetic-flux changing components at the pole portions, a respective magnetic-flux changing component located at a respective pole face, the respective magnetic-flux changing component configured to change magnetic flux density at a respective track-facing surface relative to the respective pole face. The electromagnetic actuator further includes electrical windings around the pole portions.

Relating to the mounting of stators in generators for wind turbines

In a first aspect of the invention there is provided a generator for a wind turbine. The generator includes a stator which defines a central axis of the generator, the stator being mounted within a frame by a stator mounting system. The stator mounting system includes a plurality of stator mounting modules, each stator mounting module being removably attached to the stator and removably attached to the frame. The stator mounting system is arranged so that one or more of the stator mounting modules can be replaced or repositioned with the stator mounted in situ within the frame.

A liquid-cooled rotating electric machine may include an inner stator and outer rotor configured to rotate about the stator. A hub may be disposed within the inner stator and a heat exchanger may be disposed in the hub. The replaceable winding (101) further comprises an aperture (119) through the body (107), between the opposing surfaces, the aperture (119) having generally parallel internal sides about perpendicular to the opposing surfaces of the body (107), the aperture (119) configured to removably received a pole portion (109) of the electromagnetic machine (100). The replaceable winding (101) further comprises electrical conductors wound about the aperture (119) in the body (107). The replaceable winding (101) further comprises electrical connectors (123) at one or more external sides of the body (107), the electrical connectors (123) connected to the electrical conductors.

A radial flux electric machine includes a rotor configured to rotate about an axis of rotation, a plurality of electromagnetic coils, and a stator. The stator may include an annular stator ring extending about the axis of rotation and a plurality of multi-part teeth circumferentially arranged on the stator ring. Each multi-part tooth of the plurality of multi-part teeth may include a core tooth-portion integrally formed with the stator ring and at least one additional tooth-portion separate from the stator ring. Each coil of the plurality of electromagnetic coils may be mounted on a different multi-part tooth of the plurality of multi-part teeth such that each coil surrounds a corresponding core tooth-portion of the multi-part tooth with a gap between the coil and the core tooth-portion. The at least one additional tooth-portion may be disposed in the gap.

A system to measure and control real-time parameters of a mill for grinding particulate without using auxiliary energy is disclosed. Sensors connected to the mill produce signals. A signal transmitting and receiving module is connected to the sensors and receives and transmits the mill process signals to a network. A modular power generator unit powers the system. A radio antenna receives and transmits signals from and to the signal transmitting and receiving module. A master controller connects to the network and to a distributed control system to receive and use process variables and the signals to compute and transmit setpoints to the distributed control system. The system alarms for upsets conditions, alters mill control variables, or both.

Method of inserting multi-part tooth of an electric machine into a coil

A method of assembling a coil on an irregular-shaped multi-part tooth of an electric machine may include inserting at least one wedge-portion of the multi-part tooth into an opening of the coil such that a broader end of the at least one wedge-portion extends out of the opening in the coil. The method may also include mounting the coil with the inserted at least one wedge-portion on a core tooth-portion of the multi-part tooth such that the broader end of the at least one wedge-portion remains extended out of the opening in the coil, exerting a force on the broader end of the at least one wedge-portion to tighten the coil on the multi-part tooth.
