METHOD FOR PURIFYING A TARGET SUBSTANCE WITH VIRAL INACTIVATION
The invention relates to a method for purifying a target substance starting from a fluid to be treated which comprises at least one impurity. The method comprises treatment of a stream of the fluid to be treated using a chromatography step in a first separation unit, collection of a fraction enriched with the target substance in a first tank, and viral inactivation of the fraction enriched with the target substance. The viral inactivation comprises passing the fraction enriched with the target substance through a second separation unit, passing a viral inactivation solution through the second separation unit, mixing, and collecting the mixture in the second tank to obtain a fraction depleted of active virus. The method further comprises treatment of the fraction depleted of active virus using a chromatography step in the second separation unit and collection of a fraction more enriched with the target substance.
DISINFECTING COMPOSITION
A disinfecting composition may contain 0.001 to 5 mass % of an MPC copolymer containing a constituent unit based on 2-(meth)acryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine, 5 to 90 mass % of a lower alcohol, and 0.01 to 10 mass % of an aliphatic acid ester-based nonionic surfactant. The MPC copolymer may include one or more copolymer selected from of an MPC copolymer a having a weight average molecular weight of 10,000 to 400,000 and an MPC copolymer b having a weight average molecular weight of 800,000 to 1,800,000. Such a disinfecting composition may be excellent in foam sustainability when it is discharged as a foam and that has moist feeling when it is applied.
Method of Filling A Medical Washer/Disinfector
The invention relates to method of filling a medical washer/disinfector. A desired pump speed of a circulation pump is determined. A predefined filling level associated with the desired pump speed is identified. Liquid is fed into a washing chamber while the circulation pump is running at less than said desired pump speed. While the liquid is continued to be fed so that the liquid level rises, the pump speed is increased based on the rising liquid level until said desired pump speed is reached. When the pump is running at said desired pump speed, it is detected when the liquid has been filled to the predefined filling level, and upon such detection the feeding of the liquid into the washing chamber is interrupted. Then invention also relates to a method of operating a medical washer/disinfector, a control unit and a medical washer/disinfector.
PREPARATION FOR REMOVAL AND/OR PREVENTION OF AN INFECTION ASSOCIATED WITH STAPHYLOCOCCUS EPIDERMIDIS
Described is a method for treating or preventing an infection, such as an infection associated with Staphylococcus epidermidis such as a Health-Care Associated infection, a wound, a sore, an ulcer, a burn. The method includes applying a treatment preparation to a treatment site, the treatment preparation has a first component having a single amino acid, said single amino acid being leucine, and a second component having an active chlorine compound.
Engineered water nanostructures (EWNS) and uses thereof
Various embodiments of the present invention relate to, among other things, systems for generating engineered water nanostructures (EWNS) comprising reactive oxygen species (ROS) and methods for inactivating at least one of viruses, bacteria, bacterial spores, and fungi in or on a wound of a subject in need thereof or on produce by applying EWNS to the wound or to the produce.
AQUEOUS OZONE GENERATOR CARTRIDGE
An illustrative expendable or reconstructable ozone generator cartridge for an aqueous ozone delivery device, for example, for antimicrobial sanitizing and/or medical treatment, includes a housing for a water ozonating manifold, at least one ozone generating cell coupled to the manifold, and optionally a data logging and authentication feature. Advantageously, a water inlet, an aqueous ozone outlet, and an electrical connector of the ozone generator cartridge are simultaneously pluggable into and unpluggable from a docking station of the aqueous ozone delivery device, for example, a hand or implement washing and sanitizing device or a medical treatment device.
Antimicrobial peptide stimulating cleansing composition
A topical cleansing composition for stimulating the production of antimicrobial peptides on the skin is disclosed. The topical cleansing composition includes an active ingredient comprising one or more of a natural extract and a polypeptide; one or more surfactants; and water. The topical cleansing composition increases the concentration of antimicrobial peptides on skin, as compared to an otherwise identical topical composition without the active ingredient.
Disinfection method using a disinfection agent formed in situ by reaction of H.SUB.2.O.SUB.2 .and NO.SUB.2.-
The invention relates to a disinfection process comprising the feed materials H.sub.2O.sub.2 and NO.sub.2.sup.− and a mixing step and a distribution step, wherein the mixing step and the distribution step (during which each point on the surface being disinfected is wetted with a solution of active substance) are implemented during a processing period Z.sub.A. An exposure step follows, in which the distributed solution of active substance acts upon the surface in contact with the solution of active substance during an exposure period Z.sub.E. In this process, the maximum NO.sub.2.sup.− concentration during the mixing step is of 300 mM, and the time-integrated reaction rate W is represented during the exposure period Z.sub.E by the integral formula (I), where k.sub.1 denotes the pH-value-dependent speed constant of the reaction between H.sub.2O.sub.2 and NO.sub.2.sup.− and the pH value of the solution of active substance before it contacts the surface being disinfected lies in the range of 2.1≤pH≤6.8. The invention also relates to a device for providing the solution of active substance.
NOVEL ANTIBACTERIAL HYDROGELS
The present invention relates to compounds of Formula I which form hydrogels upon mixing with water, and to fibers which form from the compounds. The hydrogels and fibers are antibacterial and not toxic towards mammalian cells. Such compounds, hydrogels, and fibers are useful, for example, in the treatment of surfaces such as in dermal or internal wounds as a barrier layer, or any article which may require disinfection. (I)
