The wind energy installations are operated while they are not connected to the electrical supply system, where at least one of the wind energy installations produces electric power and inputs the electric power into a local DC voltage system that connects the wind energy installations if the at least one of the wind energy installations currently produces more power than needed for supplying its own operating equipment. Additionally or alternatively, the operating equipment is supplied totally or in part with power from the local DC voltage system if the at least one of the wind energy installations currently produces less power than needed for supplying its operating equipment.
MONITORING OF A DC-LINK OF A SPLIT WIND-TURBINE-CONVERTER SYSTEM
A method of monitoring a split wind-turbine-converter system with at least one generator-side converter and at least one grid-side converter arranged at distant locations, and a DC-link in the form of an elongated conductor arrangement with at least one positive and at least one negative conductor. The impedance of the DC-link conductor arrangement is determined by means of DC-voltage sensors. The voltages between the positive and the negative conductors are determined at the generator-side converter and at the grid-side converter, and the difference between the voltages is determined. The impedance of the DC-link conductor arrangement is determined by putting the determined voltage difference in relation to the DC current flowing through the DC-link conductor arrangement. If the impedance exceeds a given impedance threshold a fault state is recognized.

Systems and methods for controlling operation of a power converter based on grid conditions are provided. In particular, a first gating voltage can be applied to a switching element of a power converter associated with a wind-driven power generation system. The first gating voltage can be greater than a threshold voltage for the switching element. A grid event associated with an electrical grid coupled to the power generation system can be detected. A second gating voltage can be applied to the gate of the switching element during the detected grid event. The second gating voltage can be greater than the first gating voltage.
Wind park control system
A wind park control system for controlling wind turbines of a wind park during a plant controller handover is provided. A plurality of plant controllers compute control values on the basis of system input data, which plant controllers are realized to operate in parallel. One of the plant controllers operates as an active plant controller for computing control values for controlling the wind turbines. One further plant controller operates as a standby plant controller. An output means continually issues control values to the wind turbines of the wind park. A handover arrangement for handing over control from the hitherto active plant controller to an operative standby plant controller is provided such that that standby plant controller then assumes the function of active plant controller. Further, a wind park, a method of controlling a wind park, and a method of performing a plant controller handover in a wind park are provided.
DC-LINK REFERENCE VOLTAGE DETERMINATION FOR WIND TURBINE CONVERTER SYSTEMS
A method of setting a reference DC-link voltage of a wind-turbine converter system is provided. At least at least one DC voltage demand from at least one generator-side inverter and at least one DC voltage demand are received from at least one grid-side inverter. A generator-side DC voltage demand value on the basis of the at least one DC voltage demand received from the at least one generator-side inverter. Also a grid-side DC voltage demand value is determined on the basis of the at least one DC voltage demand received from the at least one grid-side inverter. The highest DC voltage demand value out of the generator-side and grid-side DC voltage demand values is chosen. This chosen value corresponds to the set reference DC-link voltage.
