The present invention relates to a lens care solution having 0.001 to about 5 weight percent of a low molecular weight amine of the general formula: ##STR00001## where R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are H or low molecular weight radicals, and R.sub.5 is a low molecular weight radical, or salt thereof; an effective amount of a tonicity agent; and the balance water.

STORAGE SOLUTION FOR OPHTHALMIC LENS AND OPHTHALMIC PRODUCT USING THE SAME
20180298308 · 2018-10-18 ·

A storage solution for an ophthalmic lens comprises an osmotic pressure adjusting agent, sodium chloride, and deionized water. The osmotic pressure adjusting agent is selected from a group consisting of betaine, L-carnitine, and erythritol, or any combination thereof. The storage solution has an osmotic pressure of about 280 mOsm/kg to about 320 mOsm/kg. The disclosure also provides an ophthalmic product using the storage solution.

OPHTHALMIC AND CONTACT LENS SOLUTIONS CONTAINING SIMPLE SACCHARIDES AS PRESERVATIVE ENHANCERS
20180146678 · 2018-05-31 ·

The present invention relates to an ophthalmic solution comprising 0.00001 to 10.0 weight percent of a simple saccharide, at least 0.00001 weight percent of a preservative, and not more than about 0.2 percent by weight chloride. The simple saccharide is chosen from the group consisting of: inositol; mannitol; sorbitol; sucrose; dextrose; glycerin; propylene glycol; ribose; triose; tetrose; erythrose; threose; pentose; arabinose; ribulose; xylose; xylulose; lyxose; hexose; allose; altrose; fructose; galactose; glucose; gulose; idose; mannose; sorbose; talose; tagatose; adlose; ketose; heptose; sedoheptulose; monosaccharides; disaccharides; sugar alcohols; xylitol; and polyol.

Emulsion compositions containing quaternary ammonium compounds

Compositions containing quaternary compounds in which the nitrogen atom is substituted by at least one alkyl group having at least 12 carbon atoms, and the composition includes at least 20% in weight by weight of the total composition, of ammonium halides in which the nitrogen atom is substituted by at least one alkyl group having at least 14 carbon atoms and more than 5%, preferably more than 7% in weight by weight of the total composition, of ammonium halides in which the nitrogen atom is substituted by at least one alkyl group having at least 16 carbon atoms. Also, ophthalmic oil-in-water emulsions containing such compositions, the ophthalmic emulsions being useful for eye care or for the treatment of eye conditions.

Minimizing biological lipid deposits on contact lenses

Method for minimizing the sorption of tear lipids on frequent replacement, or extended-wear, contact lenses, the method comprising (a) contacting the contact lens selected from the group consisting of senofilcon A, lotrafilcon A, lotrafilcon B, and comfilcon A B with a lens care solution for a period of at least three hours to minimize the accumulation of tear lipids on the contact lens. The lens care solution comprises 0.5 ppm to 10 ppm -[4-tris(2-hydroxyethyl)-ammonium chloride-2-butenyl]poly[1-dimethyl ammonium chloride-2-butenyl]--tris(2-hydroxyethyl) ammonium chloride; citrate, citric acid or a mixture thereof; and 0.005 wt. % to 0.05 wt. % hyaluronic acid. The method also includes (b) inserting the soaked contact lens into one's eye, and (c) repeating steps (a) and (b).
