10523160 · 2019-12-31 · ·

Technology for a repeater is disclosed. The repeater can include a power amplifier and a controller. The controller can determine whether a load is connected to the repeater. The controller can protect the power amplifier when the load is not connected to the repeater by disabling the power amplifier. The controller can unprotect the power amplifier when the load is connected to the repeater by enabling the power amplifier.

AMPLIFIER DC BIAS PROTECTION CIRCUIT AND RELATED AUDIO SYSTEM

An amplifier DC bias protection circuit includes an amplifier module, a filter module and a comparator module. The amplifier module converts an input signal into a non-inverting signal and an inverting signal. The filter module blocks AC signals in the non-inverting signal and the inverting signal, thereby providing a first DC bias signal and a second DC bias signal accordingly. The comparator module is configured to determine whether the absolute value of a DC bias difference signal is greater than a predetermined value, and output a determination signal for deactivating the amplifier module when the absolute value of the DC bias difference signal is greater than the predetermined value. The DC bias difference signal is associated with the voltage difference between the first DC bias signal and the second DC bias signal.

An output OUT is coupled to a load. A high-side transistor MH is arranged such that its source is coupled to a power supply line, and such that its drain is coupled to an output terminal OUT. A first OCP circuit compares a first current detection signal I.sub.CS1 that corresponds to a current I.sub.SRC that flows through the high-side transistor MH with a first threshold value I.sub.OCP having a positive correlation with a power supply voltage V.sub.DD of a power supply line, and generates a first OCP signal S.sub.OCP that indicates the comparison result. A driving circuit latch-stops the driving operation of the high-side transistor MH according to the first OCP signal S.sub.OCP.

A current fluctuating due to a load fluctuation is limited to protect a semiconductor switch. A protection circuit includes a switch circuit that turns on when a predetermined conduction voltage is applied thereto, and a sub-reactance circuit having a predetermined reactance value is connected in parallel to a main reactance circuit through which a high frequency current generated by a semiconductor switch flows. When the switch circuit is turned on, the main reactance circuit and the sub-reactance circuit are connected in parallel, and a high frequency current flows through this parallel connection circuit. The impedance value of the parallel connection circuit is set to be larger than the impedance value of the main reactance circuit so that the current is limited due to the turning on of the switch circuit, and thus, the semiconductor switch is protected.

Phased array antenna system

A phased array antenna system having a plurality of antenna elements arranged into an array is disclosed. Each of a plurality of amplifier circuitries has an output terminal coupled to a corresponding one of the plurality of antenna elements and includes a power amplifier having a control terminal coupled to an input terminal. The power amplifier has a first current terminal coupled to the output terminal and a second current terminal coupled to a fixed voltage node. Further included in each of the plurality of amplifier circuitries is a current limiter having a bias terminal coupled to the control terminal of the power amplifier to adjust a bias point of the power amplifier to limit current flowing through the first current terminal and the second current terminal to within a predetermined current range. Some embodiments also include a voltage limiter to limit voltage amplitude at the output terminal.
