Embodiments are provided for satellite volume control. An example method includes receiving an input at a playback device to adjust a volume for a plurality of playback devices that are grouped for synchronous playback of audio content, wherein the plurality of playback devices includes the playback device. The method also includes sending a first message over a network from the playback device to a device associated with the plurality of playback devices, the first message including information based on the input, wherein the information is used to adjust the volume of the plurality of playback devices. The method also includes receiving a second message at the playback device over the network, the second message including information for the volume of the playback device, wherein the volume is based on the adjusted volume of the plurality of playback devices.
Method and structure for controlling bandwidth and peaking over gain in a variable gain amplifier (VGA)
A method of controlling bandwidth and peaking over gain in a variable gain amplifier (VGA) device and structure therefor. The device includes at least three differential transistor pairs configured as a cross-coupled differential amplifier with differential input nodes, differential bias nodes, differential output nodes, a current source node, and two cross-coupling nodes. The cross-coupled differential amplifier includes a load resistor coupled to each of the differential output nodes and one of the cross-coupling nodes, and a load inductor coupled to the each of the cross-coupling nodes and a power supply rail. A current source is electrically coupled to the current source node. The cross-coupling configuration with the load resistance and inductance results in a lower bandwidth and lowered peaking at low gain compared to high gain. Further, the tap point into the inductor can be chosen as another variable to tune the bandwidth and peaking in a communication system.

Method and apparatus for automated tuning of vehicle sound system
An Auto Setup Program (ASP) may be implemented in the sound system of a vehicle to accomplish the goal of a dramatically improved audio quality achievable in any vehicle, regardless of the speaker components and head-unit utilized. The ASP performs automated time alignment measurements and equalizer processes using an external microphone. The ASP eliminates the need for expensive and time consuming professional tuning operations. The on-board ASP can be run multiple times as desired. For example, the ASP can be executed after changes to the system, such as upgrading speakers.
Sound processing apparatus and method, and program
The present technology relates to a sound processing apparatus and method, and a program for enabling more stable localization of a sound image. A virtual speaker is assumed to exist on the lower side among the sides of a tetragon having its corners formed with four speakers surrounding a target sound image position on a spherical plane. Three-dimensional VBAP is performed with respect to the virtual speaker and the two speakers located at the upper right and the upper left, to calculate gains of the two speakers at the upper right and the upper left and the virtual speaker, the gains being to be used for fixing a sound image at the target sound image position. Further, two-dimensional VBAP is performed with respect to the lower right and lower left speakers, to calculate gains of the lower right and lower left speakers, the gains being to be used for fixing a sound image at the position of the virtual speaker. The values obtained by multiplying these gains by the gain of the virtual speaker are set as the gains of the lower right and lower left speakers for fixing a sound image at the target sound image position. The present technology can be applied to sound processing apparatuses.

The method includes providing a configurable user interface which defines an audio processing operation. The status of the audio processing operation can be defined through interaction with the user interface. In one example, a zone player may include a network interface, at least one processor, a non-transitory computer-readable medium, and program instructions stored on the non-transitory computer-readable medium that may be executable by the at least one processor such that the zone player is configured to receive an instruction to change a volume setting of the zone player to a requested volume level; in response to receiving the instruction to change the volume setting of the zone player to the requested volume level, adjust the volume setting of the zone player to an adapted volume level that is lower than the requested volume level; and after adjusting the volume setting of the zone player to the adapted volume level, send an indication that the volume setting of the zone player has been adjusted to the requested volume level rather than the adapted volume level.
