The digital filter is configured to receive a filter-input audio signal and to filter the filter-input audio signal, so as to produce a filter-output audio signal. The signal combiner is configured to combine the filter-input audio signal with the filter-output audio signal, so as to produce a combined audio signal. The DRP is configured to apply to the filter-output audio signal a dynamic-range correction that depends non-linearly on the combined audio signal.

In some examples, the generating step comprises: mapping a difference between the first audio transducer and the second audio transducer to a mapped difference in audio level; deriving a frequency response dependent upon a difference between: the response data applicable to the audio reproduction level; and the response data applicable to the audio reproduction level as modified by the mapped difference in audio level.

A method of processing an audio signal is disclosed. According to embodiments of the method, magnitude response information of a prototype filter is determined. The magnitude response information includes a plurality of gain values, at least one of which includes a first gain corresponding to a first frequency. The magnitude response information of the prototype filter is stored. The magnitude response information of the prototype filter at the first frequency is retrieved. Gains are computed for a plurality of control frequencies based on the retrieved magnitude response information of the prototype filter at the first frequency, and the computed gains are applied to the audio signal.
