Techniques described herein may involve audio settings based on an environment. An example implementation may involve a playback device playing back first audio content and during playback of at least a portion of the first audio content, detecting, via the at least one microphone, an audio signal. At least a portion of the detected audio signal may include a reflection of the first audio content played back by the playback device. The playback device may determine an equalization setting based on at least the determined one or more reflection characteristics and apply the determined equalization setting during playback of second audio content.

An audio processing device is disclosed. The audio processing device includes a filter and an output circuit. The filter is configured to receive an audio signal to generate a filtered audio signal, wherein the filter includes a plurality of parameters that are adjustable for changing a bandwidth, a center frequency or a gain of response of the filter. The output circuit is configured to receive the filtered audio signal to generate an output audio signal to a speaker. When the parameters of the filter are changed, the filter reduces changes in the audio signal caused by the parameters, and the output circuit continuously receives the filtered audio signal to generate the output audio signal for the speaker to play without interruption.

Playback device pairing

Technology for grouping, consolidating, and pairing individual playback devices with network capability (players) to stimulate a multi-channel listening environment is disclosed. An example method includes receiving an audio signal containing a range of audio frequencies; amplifying, according to a gain parameter, the audio signal to be reproduced by at least one speaker. The example method includes automatically increasing the gain parameter to a higher gain parameter responsive to a determination that no more than a subset of the range of audio frequencies is to be reproduced by the at least one speaker. The example method includes amplifying, according to the higher gain parameter, the audio signal containing no more than the subset of the range of audio frequencies to be reproduced by the at least one speaker.

Audio signal processing method and apparatus for frequency spectrum correction

An audio signal processing apparatus is provided. The audio signal processing apparatus includes an input terminal receiving an input audio signal, a processor obtaining a difference between a playback loudness of the input audio signal and a desired loudness thereof and correcting a frequency band spectrum of an output audio signal for each of a plurality of frequency bands based on the difference between the playback loudness and the desired loudness of the input audio signal and a relationship between a loudness and a sound pressure for each of the plurality of frequency bands, and an output terminal outputting the output audio signal. The playback loudness is a loudness of the output audio signal when the input audio signal is output without the correction.

The processing of audio signals is shown in which a first gain-adjustable amplifier is configured to receive a feed forward signal from an input and a second gain-adjustable amplifier is configured to receive a feedback signal from an output. A gain controller supplies a first gain control signal to the first gain-adjustable amplifier, wherein the gain controller supplies a complementary second gain control signal to the second gain-adjustable amplifier, which may be the reciprocal of the first gain control signal. A first combiner is arranged to combine a first output from the first gain-adjustable amplifier with a second output from the second gain-adjustable amplifier. A plurality of filter elements are configured in parallel, wherein each filter element receives an output from the first combiner. A second combiner combines outputs from the filter elements with the original input signal and the filter elements have mutually different filtering characteristic.
