SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH INTEGRATED TUNING CAPABILITY
A multiport RF switch assembly with integrated impedance tuning capability is described that provides a single RFIC solution to switch between transmit and receive paths in a communication system. Dynamic tuning is integrated into each switch sub-assembly to provide the capability to impedance match antennas or other components connected to the multiport switch. The tuning function at the switch can be used to shape the antenna response to provide better filtering at the switch/RF front-end (RFFE) interface to allow for reduced filtering requirements in the RFFE. Memory is designed into the multiport switch assembly, allowing for a look-up table or other data to reside with the switch and tuning circuit. The resident memory will result in easier integration of the tunable switch assembly into communication systems.

An electronic device may be provided with wireless circuitry and control circuitry. The wireless circuitry may include an antenna with an inverted-F antenna resonating element formed from portions of a peripheral conductive electronic device housing structure and may have an antenna ground that is separated from the antenna resonating element by a gap. The antenna may include a first adjustable component coupled between the antenna resonating element arm and the antenna ground on a first side of the antenna feed and a second adjustable component coupled between the antenna resonating element arm and the antenna ground on a second side of the antenna feed. Control circuitry in the electronic device may adjust the first and second adjustable components between a first tuning mode, a second tuning mode, and a third tuning mode.
RFID READER WITH AUTOMATIC TUNING
An RFID reader, tuning method and computer readable medium. A carrier signal is transmitted. A plurality of feedback signals produced in the RFID reader are measured when transmitting the carrier signal with a variable matching network set at a plurality of impedance values that are different from one another. It is determined which impedance value of the plurality of impedance values produced a feedback signal having a highest level of the plurality of feedback signals. The variable matching network is set to the determined impedance value.
Wireless power system tuning apparatus
A wireless power transmission system comprising a wireless transmitter capable of transmitting power and a wireless receiver capable of receiving power such that the transmitter or receiver comprises a controller and resonant tank, and the resonant tank comprises a capacitor and an electrically tunable inductor.
TRANSCEIVING DEVICE
A transceiving device includes: a signal port, arranged to relay an RF input signal during a first mode, and to relay an RF output signal during a second mode different from the first mode; a receiver, coupled to the signal port; a transmitter, coupled to the signal port; and a first adjustable capacitor, coupled to the signal port. The second adjustable capacitor is arranged to have a first capacitance during the first mode such that the RF input signal is received by the receiver, and the second adjustable capacitor is arranged to have a second capacitance during the second mode such that the RF output signal is transmitted to the signal port.

Auto-tunable antenna devices
Auto-tunable antenna devices and methods of using the same are described herein. One method for tuning an antenna of a device includes comparing a reference phase of a reference signal to a return phase of a return signal of the antenna and sending a correction signal to a tunable circuit element of the antenna in response to the reference phase being out of phase with the return phase.
Method for automatically adjusting a tunable passive antenna and a tuning unit, and apparatus for radio communication using this method
The invention relates to a method for automatically adjusting one or more tunable passive antennas and a single-input-port and single-output-port tuning unit. The invention also relates to an apparatus for radio communication using this method, for instance a radio transceiver. An apparatus for radio communication of the invention comprises: a tunable passive antenna; a feeder; a single-input-port and single-output-port tuning unit having an input port and an output port; a sensing unit; a transmission and signal processing unit which applies an excitation to the input port, which delivers one or more antenna adjustment instructions, and which delivers one or more tuning unit adjustment instructions; and a control unit which delivers one or more antenna control signals to the tunable passive antenna, and one or more tuning control signals to the single-input-port and single-output-port tuning unit.
RADIO-FREQUENCY IMPEDANCE TUNER
A radio-frequency impedance tuner can include first node and second nodes, a first series path, a second series path, and an inductance path, each between the first node and the second node and including a switch to allow the path to couple or uncouple the first and second nodes. Each series path can be configured to allow a substantially continuous flow of a direct current between the first node and the second node when coupled. The tuner can further include a shunt path with a switch to allow coupling or uncoupling of the second node and ground. The tuner can further include a switchable grounding path implemented along the inductance path and configured to allow the inductance path to function as a series inductance path between the first and second nodes, or as a shunt inductance path between the ground and a node along the inductance path.
