BONE CEMENT COMPOSITION
20170232137 · 2017-08-17 ·

A bone cement composition contains (a) the product of a polymerisation reaction between a high molecular weight dimethacrylate monomer having a molecular weight of at least 250 and bearing at least one hydrophilic group, a monofunctional methacrylate monomer having a molecular weight of not more than 250 bearing at least one hydrophilic group, an methacrylate monomer, and a polymer having a molecular weight of at least 200,000, and (b) an inorganic filler which is present in an amount of at least about 40% by weight, based on the total weight of the cement composition.

Fracture fixation systems

Systems for bone fracture repair are disclosed. One system includes a biocompatible putty that may be packed about a bone fracture to provide full loadbearing capabilities within days. The disclosed putties create an osteoconductive scaffold for bone regeneration and degrade over time to harmless resorbable byproducts. Fixation devices for contacting an endosteal wall of an intramedullary (IM) canal of a fractured bone are also disclosed. One such fixation device includes a woven elongated structure fabricated from resorbable polymer filaments. The woven elongated structure has resilient properties that allow the woven structure to be radially compressed and delivered to the IM canal using an insertion tube. When the insertion tube is removed, the woven structure expands towards its relaxed cross-sectional width to engage the endosteal wall. The woven elongated structure is impregnated with a resorbable polymer resin that cures in situ, or in the IM canal.

Systems and methods for improved delivery of osteoinductive molecules in bone repair

Systems and methods for preparing synthetic osteoinductive bone grafts are provided in which a porous ceramic granule, which may be incorporated within a biocompatible matrix material, is loaded with an osteoinductive agent. Loading of granules is facilitated in some cases by the use of low-pH buffers and pre-treatments.

Hydraulic cement-based implant material and use thereof
09764057 · 2017-09-19 · ·

The invention relates to implant materials that are based on hydraulic cements in the form of one or more pastes, suspensions or dispersions that contain mineral and/or organic and/or organomineral solids and that react, when combined or when reacted with an aqueous liquid, to a solid in a cement-type initiation reaction. The invention also relates to the use of these materials as technical, medical-technical and/or pharmaceutical products, especially as bone cements, bone replacement materials, bone glues, dental filling materials and implantable active ingredient carriers. The implant materials according to the invention in the form of one or more pastes, suspensions or dispersions that contain mineral and/or organic and/or organomineral solids are formulated in an excipient liquid in such a manner that the pastes, suspensions or dispersions are stable in storage at normal conditions over a prolonged period of time and that they react, when combined with an aqueous liquid or when added to an aqueous liquid, in a cement-type initiation reaction and set to a solid. The excipient liquid of the mineral paste, suspension or dispersion is substantially water-free, and water immiscible or insoluble or hardly soluble in water in the chemical sense.

ABSORBABLE BONE WAX AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF
20210393848 · 2021-12-23 ·

Disclosed is absorbable bone wax and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method comprises the steps of: 1) mixing polyoxypropylene polyoxyethylene block copolymer (PEG-PPG-PEG) and polyoxypropylene polyoxyethylene random copolymer (PEG-PPG), and stirring evenly under heating to obtain a liquid mixture; 2) under mechanical stirring and heating condition, adding hemostatic starch microspheres to the liquid mixture obtained in step 1) to obtain a uniformly-mixed liquid; and 3) adding a bone repair material to the uniformly-mixed liquid obtained in step 2), and mixing uniformly to obtain a mixed solution, then pouring the mixed solution into a mold or sub-packaged bottle, and leaving at room temperature for solidifying and shaping to give the absorbable bone wax. The absorbable bone wax of the present invention can achieve the effect of rapid hemostasis, changing the relatively single hemostasis method with traditional bone wax which only depends on physical sealing.
