One component fibrin glue comprising a polymerization inhibitor
Provided herein are stable liquid sealant formulations comprising fibrin monomers and a reversible fibrin polymerization blocking agent, methods of preparing and using the formulations.
PHOTOACTIVATED CROSSLINKING OF A PROTEIN OR PEPTIDE
A method of crosslinking a protein or peptide for use as a biomaterial, the method comprising the step of irradiating a photoactivatable metal-ligand complex and an electron acceptor in the presence of the protein or peptide, thereby initiating a cross-linking reaction to form a 3-dimensional matrix of the biomaterial.
Use of photosynthetic scaffolds in tissue engineering
The present invention is concerned with a photosynthetic scaffold that delivers oxygen and its uses for tissue engineering and the treatment of ischemia.
COMPOSITIONS HAVING CYLINDRICAL VOLUME, METHODS, AND APPLICATORS FOR SEALING INJURIES
Disclosed are solid and frozen haemostatic materials having a rod shape and suitable applicators and plungers for application of such dressings to wounded tissue wherein said dressings consisting essentially of a fibrinogen component and a fibrinogen activator. Also disclosed are methods of treating internal wounded tissue in a mammal by applying one or more of these haemostatic materials and dressings, particularly for the treatment of injured tissue via endoscopic or minimally-invasive surgical techniques.
METHODS AND KITS FOR PRODUCING A FIBRIN MATRIX
Methods for producing a fibrin matrix comprising a fusion peptide are described herein. In some embodiments, the method includes providing three different components, including a first component containing fibrinogen or a fibrinogen precursor and optionally, transglutaminase or a transglutaminase precursor, a second component containing thrombin or a thrombin precursor, and a third component containing a fusion peptide. In these embodiments, neither the first component nor the second component includes the fusion peptide. In some embodiments, the first or second components are premixed with the third component. The first, second and third components are mixed to form a fibrin matrix comprising a covalently linked fusion peptide. The mixing is carried out in a time frame of not more than 5 days. A kit for producing the fibrin matrix comprising a covalently linked fusion peptide is also described herein.
USE OF PHOTOSYNTHETIC SCAFFOLDS IN TISSUE ENGINEERING
The present invention is concerned with a photosynthetic scaffold that delivers oxygen and its uses for tissue engineering and the treatment of ischemia.
Fibrin and/or dialdehyde starch hydrolysate materials, and preparation and use thereof
Various compositions of matter, methods of making compositions of matter, and methods of using compositions of matter, e.g. for inducing hemostasis, are disclosed. In some embodiments, a starting fibrin material is subjected to controlled hydrolysis, desirably base-catalyzed, to prepare a fibrin hydrolysate material with increased water sorption capacity. Such fibrin hydrolysate materials, alone or combined with one or more additional substances, can be used in the preparation of hemostasis promoting foams, powders or gels. In some embodiments, a starting dialdehyde starch material is subjected to controlled hydrolysis to prepare a dialdehyde starch hydrolysate material. Such dialdehyde starch hydrolysate materials, alone or combined with one or more additional substances, in some cases combined with a fibrin hydrolysate material, can be used in the preparation of hemostasis promoting foams, powders or gels.
Hemostatic compositions and methods of making thereof
The present invention is directed to hemostatic compositions comprising at least partially integrated agglomerated oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC) fibers, fibrinogen, and thrombin and methods of forming a powdered hemostatic composition, comprising the steps of: forming a suspension of a mixture comprising particles of fibrinogen, thrombin, ORC fibers in a non-aqueous low boiling solvent; spraying the suspension through a nozzle onto a substrate, allowing the non-aqueous solvent to evaporate; separating from the substrate and sieving the composition.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR THE TREATMENT OF SKIN DEPIGMENTATION
A cellularized patch for treating a scar or skin condition of a subject The cellularized patch and methods of use thereof are advantageous in skin graft procedures performed, for example, to treat a subject having a skin condition comprising skin hypopigmentation or depigmentation, such as vitiligo. In some cases, human melanocytes are cultured ex vivo and seeded onto a transfer patch before being applied to a subject.
Tissular formulation or adhesive obtained from a blood composition containing platelets, and method for the preparation of said formulation
A formulation, or tissular adhesive, obtained from a platelet-rich blood composition and/or growth factors, and method for the preparation of this adhesive. The preparation method of the adhesive comprises the steps of raising the temperature of the initial blood composition and subsequently activating the composition. Among other advantages, the tissular adhesive is biocompatible and biodegradable, has desirable biological or medical properties provided by the presence of platelets or growth factors, and also has a high adhesiveness and an accelerated coagulation process.
