An amplifier circuit comprises a first gain circuit path configured to provide a first signal gain to an input signal, a second gain circuit path configured to provide a second signal gain to an input signal, an auxiliary gain circuit path configured to provide an auxiliary signal gain to an auxiliary input signal, wherein the auxiliary signal gain is equal to the first signal gain minus the second signal gain, a summing circuit configured to sum the second gain signal path and the auxiliary signal path, and logic circuitry configured to change an output of the circuit between the first gain circuit path and the sum of the second gain signal path and the auxiliary signal path, and set the auxiliary input signal equal to the input signal before the changing.

This application relates to control of semiconductor devices, in particular MOS devices, so as to reduce RTS/flicker noise. A circuit (100) includes a first MOS device (103, 104) and a bias controller (107). The circuit is operable in at least a first circuit state (P.sub.RO) in which the first MOS device is active to contribute to a first signal (Sout) and a second circuit state (P.sub.RST) in which the first MOS device does not contribute to the first signal. The bias controller is operable to control voltages at one or more terminals of the first MOS device to apply a pre-bias (V.sub.PB1, V.sub.PB2) during an instance of the second circuit state. The pre-bias is applied to set an occupancy state of charge carriers traps within the first MOS device, to limit noise during subsequent operation in the first circuit state. In embodiments, the bias controller is configured so that at least one parameter of the pre-bias is selectively variable in use based on one or more operating conditions.

Disclosed herein is a system and method for optimizing audio equalization settings based on the type of music being broadcast, comprising: receiving audio at a processing device; performing a frequency analysis of the received audio, to determine a plurality of frequency components and associated amplitudes of the frequency components of the received audio; generating a spectral plot of the received audio based on the performed frequency analysis of the received audio, wherein the spectral plot comprises an x axis that represents relative amplitude and a y axis that represents frequency components of the received audio; comparing the spectral plot of the received audio to each of a plurality of different predetermined spectral plots; matching the spectral plot of the received audio to at least one of a plurality of different predetermined spectral plots; retrieving a predetermined equalizer settings file that corresponds to the at least one of the matched predetermined spectral plots, wherein the predetermined equalizer settings file comprises a plurality of relative amplitude settings for each of a plurality of frequency bands; and applying the retrieved predetermined equalizer settings to an equalizer that processes the received audio according to the predetermined equalizer settings in the predetermined equalizer settings file.
