Techniques and apparatuses to decompress data that has been stack compressed is described. Stack compression refers to compression of data in one or more dimensions. For uncompressed data blocks that are very sparse, i.e., data blocks that contain many zeros, stack compression can be effective. In stack compression, uncompressed data block is compressed into compressed data block by removing one or more zero words from the uncompressed data block. A map metadata that maps the zero words of the uncompressed data block is generated during compression. With the use of the map metadata, the compressed data block can be decompressed to restore the uncompressed data block.

In one example, an encoding device includes a scrambling circuit that scrambles an input data string, a calculation circuit that calculates a first running disparity of the scrambled data string, a determination circuit that determines whether or not to invert the scrambled data string on the basis of a first running disparity calculated by the calculation circuit and a second running disparity calculated at a time point before the first running disparity, and an addition circuit that inverts or non-inverts the scrambled data string on the basis of a determination result by the determination circuit, adds a flag indicating the determination result, and outputs the data string. The technology can be applied to devices that perform SLVS-EC standard communication.

Data in the data set can be reordered based on a reordering sequence for the proper data subsets. Reordering data in the data set can improve compression when at least a portion of the proper data subsets are compressed. A data structure is provided that facilitates accessing specified data stored in a compressed format.

An example apparatus includes an input processor to obtain a model, the model identifying a first sequence associated with a first trace of data known to be repetitive, a sequence identifier to identify a second sequence associated with a second trace of data, a comparator to compare the first sequence with the second sequence, and an output processor to when the first sequence matches the second sequence, transmit an encoded representation of the second sequence to the central processing facility using a first channel of communication, and when the first sequence fails to match the second sequence, transmit the second sequence to the central processing facility using a second channel of communication, the second sequence to be analyzed by the central processing facility to identify whether the second sequence is indicative of malware.

Adaptive compression of stored data

Systems, devices and methods for adaptive compression of stored information includes a memory management computing device programmed to monitor a size of a plurality of data structures stored in a data repository. The computing device compares the size of each of a plurality of data structures to a predetermined threshold. When a size of an uncompressed data structure meets the threshold, the memory management computing device calculates a value of a first compression parameter based on a value of a first parameter and a value of a second parameter of each data element of the uncompressed data structure, calculates a value of a second compression parameter based the value of the first parameter of each data element of the uncompressed data structure, generates a compressed data structure based on the value of the first compression parameter and the second compression parameter; and replaces, in the data repository, the uncompressed data structure with the compressed data structure.
